Salutes R-MC/H-SC Rivalry Across All Sports
|
The
oldest collegiate rivalry in the South doesn't feature any Division I
school that might immediately come to mind. You need only look to
a pair of ODAC campuses to find that distinction. In a gridiron
battle simply penned "The Game," Randolph-Macon College and
Hampden-Sydney College will be meeting for the 114th time this November,
continuing an annual football feud that began in 1893.
While the
pigskin may provide the most visible example, those that follow Yellow
Jacket, Tiger and ODAC athletics know that same spirit spreads to other
R-MC/H-SC showdowns no matter the sport. Chris Preston from the
Shelburne News and Varsity Magazine touched on this and more in a recent
feature for ESPN posted on ESPN.com.
