BASEBALL PLAYER OF THE
WEEK
Chad Boone,
Guilford College
Boone, a senior from
Winston-Salem, N.C., led the Quakers with a .571 batting average, eight
hits and nine runs scored in Guilford's 2-2 week. He went 2-4 with
three runs scored in a 13-9 loss to Tufts. He followed that by
helping the Quakers end a 12-game skid with a 1-for-3 showing and a
scoreless inning of relief pitching in a win over Lawrence. Boone
singled, scored twice and stole a base in game one against Emory & Henry
and followed that by matching his career high with six RBI and four hits
in the Quakers' 18-11 win over the Wasps in game two. He was just
a homer short of hitting for the cycle in that game, and he also threw a
scoreless inning of relief in that game. Boone raised his season
average to .319 and took over the team lead with 22 runs batted in.
BASEBALL PITCHER OF
THE WEEK
Clayton Edwards,
Washington & Lee University
Edwards, a senior from
Atlanta, Ga., tossed a complete game in the first contest against
Lynchburg for his fourth win of the season. In seven innings of
work, Edwards allowed only one run on five hits while fanning six
batters. His record improved to 4-1 on the season while also lowering
his earned run average to 3.45.

Hit .464 with 13 hits in 28 at bats, a team-high five doubles
and 5-for-5 in stolen base chances. |

Went 5-for-12 with two RBI and three stolen bases last week for
the Generals. |
GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Nathaniel James,
Washington & Lee University
James, a junior from
Keller, Texas, helped lead the General golf squad to an 11th place tie
out of 24 teams at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate Invitational held
at the Oleander Golf Course in Jekyll Island, Ga., over the weekend.
He finished 10th overall out of 132 golfers with a score of six-over par
220 (70-76-74). A Third Team All-American and ODAC Golfer of the
Year last year, James is averaging 74.6 strokes over 14 rounds this
year.
MEN'S LACROSSE
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Tim Skeen,
Washington & Lee University
Skeen, a sophomore from
Baltimore, Md., helped lead the Generals to a 14-13 victory over Roanoke
on Saturday by totaling a career-high eight points on a personal-best
five goals and three assists. Skeen scored three first quarter
goals as the Generals raced out to a 6-1 lead only to see the Maroons
come back to take a fourth-quarter lead. He then tallied the
game-winner to break a 13-13 tie with just seven seconds remaining.
The 2006 ODAC Rookie of the Year, Skeen has played in five of the team's
seven games to date, and is tied for second on the team in scoring with
16 points on eight goals and eight assists.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jillian Boyd,
Virginia Wesleyan College
Boyd, a junior from Warrenton, Va., guided
the Marlins to a 3-0 week with victories over Shenandoah, Lynchburg and
Greensboro by scoring 16 goals and dishing out a pair of assists.
She scored a career-high seven goals in the win at Shenandoah and
followed it with five markers against Lynchburg and four more versus
Greensboro. She also picked up 15 groundballs, including a
season-best eight against the Pride, secured six draw controls and
caused a trio of turnovers through the three contests.

SOFTBALL PLAYER OF THE
WEEK
Caroline Cubbage,
Lynchburg
Cubbage, a senior from Bridgewater, Va., led
the 20th-ranked Hornets to a 4-2 record last week, including a 3-1 mark
in ODAC action. She hit .636 with 11 runs scored, 12 RBI and four
home runs. She was issued 13 free passes, resulting in only 11
official at bats, of which she hit safely seven times. She posted
an excellent .833 on-base percentage. With the four home homers
and one double among her seven hits, Cubbage boasted a 1.545 slugging
percentage.
SOFTBALL PITCHER OF
THE WEEK
Lisa Rhodes,
Bridgewater College
Rhodes, a senior from Bridgewater, Va., was
3-1 on the week, allowing just three earned runs in 24 innings for a
0.86 earned run average. After pitching well in a 4-2 loss to CNU
in which she allowed just two earned runs, Rhodes pitched a
complete-game shutout to defeat #17 Roanoke, 7-0. She gave up five
hits, walked one and struck out one. She also tossed complete
games against R-M Woman's College and Guilford. Against RMWC, she
allowed one earned run on three hits, and followed that by shutting out
the Quakers with eight punch-outs in her seven innings in the circle.

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER
OF THE WEEK
William Moss,
Hampden-Sydney College
Moss, a freshman from Fredericksburg, Va.,
went 3-0 at #1 singles (2-0 in the ODAC) and 2-1 in #1 doubles (1-1
ODAC). Moss scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over Emory & Henry, a 6-0, 6-0
win against Ferrum, and a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 triumph over Virginia Wesleyan.
On the season, Moss is 5-1 in #1 singles (3-0 ODAC).

WOMEN'S TENNIS
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nika Botkin,
Guilford College
Botkin, a sophomore from Bremerton, Wash.,
helped Guilford to a 2-1 week, all in league play. She won two of
three matches at first singles and one of three at first doubles with
tammate Krystal Parrish. In singles action, Botkin won 6-4, 6-1
against Lynchburg and then 6-4, 6-3 versus Roanoke.

MEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK &
FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Tony Konate,
Bridgewater College
Konate, a freshman from Reston, Va., placed
third in the 100-meter run and won the 200-meter dash at the Dr. Harry
G.M. Jopson Invitational hosted by Bridgewater. Konate ran 10.96
seconds to finish third in the 100. He won the 200 with a time of
22.18 seconds. The 200 time ranks Konate in the top five in BC
history in the event. He became the ninth runner in school history
to break the 11.0 mark in the 100.

WOMEN'S OUTDOOR TRACK
& FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Robin Yerkes,
Roanoke College
Yerkes, a freshman from Arnold, Md., won the
200-meter dash and 400-meter dash at the Dr. Harry G.M. Jopson
Invitational hosted by Bridgewater. She won the 200 in 25.88
seconds, which set a new Roanoke College record. She then ran a
NCAA Division III provisional qualifier in the 400, winning the event in
57.48 seconds.
