2010-11 ODAC Men's Basketball "Virtual" Media Guide

After a banner 2010 campaign, what's in store for 2011?

That's one of several burning questions in many circles as the start to the 2010-11 men's basketball season draws near.  Four ODAC teams were ranked in the D3hoops.com Top-25 Poll for much of the season, and they spent the majority of their time amongst the nation's 10-best rated programs. Virginia Wesleyan, Eastern Mennonite, Randolph-Macon and Guilford all made the NCAA Division III Tournament, making the ODAC the only conference to place four teams in the 2010 tourney.  Can the effort be duplicated in 2011?

Answers to that question and many others begins here and on ODAC Men's Basketball Media Day (October 28 in Salem, Va.), and will continue throughout the ultra-competitive ODAC regular season.  We'll learn if VWC can win its way to seventh straight trip to the D-III dance, or if Guilford can retool for a third time after graduating a pair of national players of the year in recent seasons.  Maybe it'll be EMU's season to continue on 2010's program-record campaign, or maybe R-MC will knock on Salem's door for the second straight.  But with the ODAC, each of those scenarios is just as likely due to the depth of competition.  Hampden-Sydney certain fancies a run at a conference-record 11th championship.  Washington and Lee could turn the ODAC's top rated defense from 2010 into its first league crown since 1980.

One thing is certain...the team (or teams) that makes an appearance in the NCAA postseason will have definitely earned it.  Nine of the ODAC's 11 programs posted 10 or more wins in 2010.  Against non-conference opponents, the ODAC went a combined 88-44 (.667) with eight teams posting a .500 or better record.  Each team returns talent that can call upon experiences from one of the deepest squad-pools in ODAC history.
