Wasps Name Kish New Soccer Coach
Emory & Henry College has tabbed Nathan Kish to be the next men's soccer coach of the Wasps' program. Kish comes to Emory from Catholic University, where he served as an assistant for one season. He previously was an assistant at Capital University (Ohio) and Frostburg State University (Md.).

Yeager Named National Coach of the Year
Lynchburg College's Chris Yeager was named the 2010 Division III Men's Soccer National Coach of the Year Friday evening, announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) at the NSCAA annual convention. It is the first national coach of the year award garnered by any LC athletics mentor.

ODAC Podcast: Turning the Calendar
The 2010 portion of the 2010-11 athletic season has all but come to close. Brad and J.J. take the time to close out the fall campaign, looking back on the run to the NCAA D-III title game experienced by Lynchburg College men's soccer. Stark, Smith Named NSCAA All-Americans
Roanoke defender Michael Stark (pictured) and Lynchburg defender Hunter Smith were named 2010 NSCAA All-Americans on Sunday. Stark earns his third straight honor while Smith enjoys his first accolade. The two awards highlight seven All-Region honors including a trio of first team honors.

LC Falls in OT in National Finals
The Lynchburg College men's soccer team was less than five minutes away from the first-ever team championship in school history, but #3 Messiah College (PA) rallied late for a 2-1 overtime victory in the NCAA Division III Championship game, hosted by Trinity University.

Saluting the Fall Scholar-Athletes
Seven student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools earned a 2010 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the fall athletic schedule. Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud presenter of each award for the ODAC's 22 sponsored sports.

LC Headed to Men's Soccer Title Game
The Lynchburg College men's soccer team is heading to its first ever Division-III NCAA National Championship game as they defeated #6 Bowdoin College 2-1 in overtime on Friday afternoon in NCAA Tournament play. LC will now face two-time defending national champion Messiah College on Saturday at 2 p.m. EST.

LC Tops #2 Ohio Wesleyan in Quarters
LC used goals by Kyle Symczak (pictured) in the 51st minute and Shane Spanninger in the 90th minute to defeat #2 Ohio Wesleyan, 2-0, and claim its first spot in the NCAA national semifinals in program history. The Hornets will face #6 Bowdoin in San Antonio on Dec. 3. The winner will match up with either #3 Messiah or #5 UW-Oshkosh for the national championship.

LC's Smith, Yeager Head Soccer Awards
LC placed five players on the first team and took home a pair of individual honors as part of the All-ODAC Men’s Soccer Teams. LC's Hunter Smith (pictured) earned the Player of the Year award and was joined by Coach Yeager as the Coach of the Year. GC's Richard Page was tabbed the Rookie of the Year, and W&L's Jamie Paldino was selected as the scholar-athlete.

Hornets Take Down Emory in 2nd Round
Lynchburg senior Shawn Bender scored in the 81st minute as the men's soccer team defeated Emory on Sunday night, 2-1, in the second round of the Division III NCAA Tournament. Lynchburg (17-4-1) will now face Trinity (TX) in the round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament at a site to be determined.

LC Tops Transylvania in NCAA First Round
The Lynchburg College men's soccer team defeated Transylvania University (KY) 3-1 Thursday in the first-round of the 2010 Division III Tournament. Center back Hunter Smith (pictured) helped LC to the win. The Hornets now advance to the second round of the tournament, and will play Emory University in Atlanta on Sunday at 6 p.m.

LC to Host NCAA Men's Soccer 1st Round
Lynchburg will be the lone representative for the ODAC in the upcoming NCAA D-III Men’s Soccer Tournament as announced on Monday morning. The Hornets will face Transylvania in the opening round at Shellenberger Field on Thursday. As host of one of four two-team first round sites, Lynchburg eyes a trip to Emory for the second round with a win over TC.

LC Earns Second Straight Crown
Lynchburg junior Ryan Renfro scored two goals as the Lynchburg's men's soccer team defeated Hampden-Sydney for the OdAC title by a score of 5-1 on Saturday. The championships marks the second straight for LC and sends the Hornets into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Hornets Top Randolph for Spot in Title Game
Lynchburg tallied twice in the first half and added an insurance goal in the final minutes as the Hornets defeated Randolph, 3-0, in ODAC men's soccer semifinal action. LC will take on H-SC on Saturday for a shot at is ODAC-best 13th league crown.

Hampden-Sydney Joins LC in ODAC Title Game
Hampden-Sydney battled back from a 1-0 with a pair of second half goals as the Tigers topped Washington and Lee, 2-1, for the right to play in the ODAC title game. Andrew Berg notched the game-winner in the 86th minute.

ODAC Men's Soccer Pairings Set
Lynchburg College enters the 2010 ODAC Men’s Soccer Tournament as the top seed with the chance to host games through the ODAC finals. Roanoke College earned the second seed while Virginia Wesleyan College and Randolph College round out the top four, sequentially. The top four teams are separated by a total of eight points in the standings.

ODAC Players of the Week: Sept. 27
ODAC standings began to take shape as the fall season played through the fourth week of action. LC field hockey scored a major non-conference win with a 2-1 triumph over nationally top-ranked Messiah. Lindsay Leonard tallied both goals. EMU's Richy Bikko won his second cross country race at the Maroon Invitational, earning his second weekly honor.

The second week of ODAC action saw several standout individual and team performances across all sports. Randolph-Macon volleyball moved to 8-0 with five wins over the past week. Hampden-Sydney Tops Men's Soccer Poll
In one of the closest surveys in recent history, Hampden-Sydney and Lynchburg each collected four first place votes in the 2010 ODAC Mens Soccer Preseason Poll. H-SC tops the list with 110 points. LC garnered 106 tallies, followed by Roanoke with 103 points to go along with a pair of first place votes. VWC picked up the remaining top nod on its way to 99 points.
