Lynchburg's McLaurin Named Third Team All-American by United Soccer Coaches

KANSAS CITY, Mo. --- Lynchburg College goalkeeper Dylan McLaurin was tabbed a Third Team All-American by the United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) on Thursday night. This is his first All-America nod following two straight assignments as an all-region goalkeeper.

McLaurin's selection highlights a contingent of 13 ODAC standouts that earned South Atlantic All-Region recognition the week prior. Joining McLaurin on the first team are a pair of fellow Hornets in defender Austin Kues and midfielder Nate Berning. Fullback Oliver Dolberg and midfielder Will Hamryka represent Washington and Lee University on the second team along with Eastern Mennonite University defender Emmanuel Boamah and LC forward Fredy Flores.

Randolph-Macon College saw three athletes join the third team in midfielder Anthony Astruc, defender Jacob McHugh, and forward Bryan Lutz. Roanoke College centerback Sam Rauf and holding midfielder Fortune Sibanda also earned third team appointments along with Randolph College forward Adam Watson.

McLaurin, a junior from Stafford, Va., registered nine individual shutouts and spent time between the sticks in five other defensive scoreless efforts. He helped LC tie an ODAC record with eight straight shutouts from September 17 thru October 11. McLaurin finished the season highly-ranked in NCAA Division III in several categories including eighth in goals-against-average (0.497) and 19th in save percentage (.863) and shutouts (9). He back-stopped a Hornets defense that allowed only 10 goals against all opponents, including just two versus league competition.
