Eagles to Play Yellow Jackets
LYNCHBURG, Va. --- Tyler Milstead pitched
a complete-game four-hitter Friday night to lead Bridgewater to a
9-2 victory over Lynchburg College.
With the victory, the Eagles move to the championship round
Saturday where they will meet Randolph-Macon at 1:00 p.m. If the
Eagles win, the deciding game will follow.
Milstead dominated the Hornets as he flirted with a no-hitter,
retiring the first 20 batters he faced.
The Bridgewater offense scratched out a run in the third when Bryan
Sanderson tripled with two outs to score Brett Howell with the
game's first run.
The Eagles added four runs in the fifth to lead 5-0. Sanderson,
Snow and Kirk delivered RBI base hits for Bridgewater.
The Hornets got their first baserunner with two outs in the seventh
when Mike Walters singled. A single by Michael Buono, followed by a
two-run double from Michael Kenah cut the Eagles lead to 5-2.
Bridgewater answered with four runs in the bottom of the seventh to
push its lead to 9-2.
Milstead finished the night with six strikeouts and did not walk a
batter.
