Quakers Extend Lead After Round 2
BC's Foshee Fires Only Sub-Par Round...So Far
CAPE CHARLES, Va. --- Scoring improved for
all but one school on Monday afternoon as Guilford College extended
its lead to 15 strokes following the second round of the 2011 ODAC
Golf Tournament. All five Quakers shot 78 or better in
helping the squad to a 294 team score and a 597-612 lead over
second place Bridgewater College.
The Eagles carded the day's best round at 293, 26 strokes better than round one's 319. Tod Foshee (pictured) led the BC charge as he registered the tournament's only sub-par round to this point, carding a 1-under 71 to improve 15 strokes from his day one 86. He currently sits tied for 19th.
Following an opening round that featured only one even-par score, five players signed-off on rounds of 72, including Guilford's Noah Ratner and Hampden-Sydney College's Ronnie Fultz, who both sit atop the leaderboard at 3-over (75-72 for both players). GC's Mat Hennick shaved six shots off his first round with a 72 on Monday. Fellow Quakers Dusty Roberts (74) and J.T. Thomas (76) matched their opening totals, accounting for the rest of GC's scoring.
The remaining even-par round belonged to BC's Mike Redwood and Randolph-Macon College's Zach Wehrman. Redwood, the 2010 ODAC individual champion, jumped into a tie for fourth just two shots off the lead at 5-over 149 (77-72). Wehrman also recovered five strokes from his day one 77, joining Redwood and first round leader, R-MC's Max Wyndorf (72-77--149), in fourth. Lynchburg College's Conrad Aguera (75-74--149) joined the trio two-back of the leaders.
