ODAC FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Deaver, a junior from Fayetteville, N.C., was ever-present in Guilford's offensive backfield in helping the Randolph-Macon defense pitch a second-half shutout in a 48-19 victory over the Quakers in Ashland on Saturday. Deaver tied for team-high honors with eight tackles featuring five solo efforts. He made 5.5 of his stops behind the line of scrimmage, costly Guilford an eye-opening 27 yards of offense. Those tackles for loss include 2.0 quarterback sacks and helped Randolph-Macon's defense pitch a second-half shutout where the unit forced the Quakers into five negative yardage drives of six possessions. Deaver's sacks came on back-to-back plays in the fourth quarter, setting Guilford back 13 yards and forcing a punt from its own end zone. Deaver's first two tackles of the game were his only two stops that did not cost GC yardage. For the season, Deaver has made 18 total tackles with 12 solo stops. He is second in the ODAC in tackles for loss (6.5) and lost yards from those TFLs (29). He is tied for third with 3.0 sacks.
