HONOREE FROM WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
  • Longtime Leadership: Served as Washington and Lee’s athletic director from fall 1989 to August 2006, guiding the department for 17 years
  • Program Growth: Expanded varsity sport offerings by adding women’s basketball, equestrian, and field hockey, while increasing staff and enhancing facilities
  • Facility Upgrades: Oversaw nine major renovations or new constructions, including the Duchossois Tennis Center, Cap’n Dick Smith Field, Watt Field, and the new Wilson Field
  • Competitive Success: Led W&L to 103 conference titles (76 more than the decade prior), a 61% overall win rate, and 10 ODAC Commissioner’s Cups in 12 years
  • National Recognition: Oversaw 51 NCAA Tournament appearances and 288 All-America honorees; emphasized academics with 29 CoSIDA Academic All-America selections and 10 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship recipients
  • National Service: Served on multiple NCAA committees, including chairing the Division III Membership Committee and contributing to the NCAA Restructuring, Division III Baseball, and Baseball Rules Committees
