HONOREE FROM WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
  • Standout W&L Athlete: Served as captain of the last subsidized football team in 1953, earning two honorable mention All-America selections at center and playing in both the Blue-Gray All-Star Game and the College All-Star
  • Professional Recognition: Drafted in the sixth round by the Washington Redskins; also earned three varsity letters in lacrosse at W&L
  • Coaching & Administrative Career: Built a successful career at Pennsylvania Military College (now Widener), Williams College, and Lebanon Valley College before returning to W&L
  • Leadership at W&L: Served as athletic director and chairman of the physical education department from 1971 to 1989, holding prominent leadership roles in the USILA, Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, ODAC, and NCAA Division III Football Committee
  • Football Coaching Tenure: Led W&L’s football program from 1973–77, with a highlight 1976 season finishing 5-5 after winning four of the last five games
  • Later Career: Concluded his athletics career as athletic director at the College of Wooster from 1991 until his retirement in 1996
