HONOREE FROM RANDOLPH-MACON COLLEGE
  • All-Conference and All-America quarterback in football, All-Conference shortstop in baseball at Randolph-Macon College, graduating in 1953 with History degree; served in U.S. Marine Corps from 1954-56, quarterbacked the Quantico base team
  • Returned to RMC in 1958 as assistant football coach, named head coach in 1964
  • Record of 105-56-5 in 18 seasons with four Mason-Dixon Athletic Conference championships and three Old Dominion Athletic Conference titles; Virginia Small College Coach of the Year four times and ODAC Coach of the Year three times
  • Undefeated season in 1968 with 9-0 record, while 1969 squad won inaugural Knute Rockne Bowl with 47-28 victory at Bridgeport for NCAA East Regional Championship
  • RMC Athletic Director from 1982-96, head golf coach for Yellow Jackets from 1964-2002.; president of Virginia Sports Hall of Fame in 1992 & 1994, chairman of that board from 1994-96
  • Inducted into six different Halls of Fame: RMC Athletics Hall of Fame, Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, ODAC Hall of Fame, Handley High School Hall of Fame, Winchester Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame, Richmond Slowpitch Softball Hall of Fame
