HONOREE FROM GUILFORD COLLEGE
  • The most dominant offensive threat that not only Guilford College softball, but arguably the ODAC as a whole has ever featured, Cynthia Hayes Luther '14 was a lynchpin in the Quaker nine from 2011-14
  • The only multi-time National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) First Team All-American in Guilford program history, Luther received recognition in 2013 and 2014, as well as an NFCA First Team All-Atlantic Region and North Carolina Sports Information Association All-State Team honors in those same years. She was a three-time All-ODAC pick and a First Team selection in 2014
  • Remains the ODAC record-holder for career batting average, at .467, in addition to single-season batting average, at .598 in 2013, and doubles, with 23 in 2014, a mark that would standalone atop the conference record books until Batten/Virginia Wesleyan’s Jessica Goldyn matched it in 2021
  • From March 23, 2013 through April 4, 2014, Luther compiled a hitting streak that finished at 31-consecutive games, remaining the ODAC record and the seventh-longest streak in the history of Division-III softball. That run came right after a streak of 21-straight games with a hit to open the 2013 season, a stretch that remains tied for the fifth-longest in league history
  • Luther owns, or finished her career owning, virtually every major offensive record in the history of the softball program. In addition to her ODAC-record batting average mark, she is the Quakers program record-holder for career runs scored, with 157, is second in career hits, with 211, and doubles, with 41, third in career steals, with 44, and fourth in career triples, with seven, and career slugging percentage, at .615
  • On top of her tandem of single-season conference records, Hayes maintains another dozen single-season top-10 marks in Guilford softball history, including the top mark for slugging percentage, at .805 in 2013, as well as in hits with 74, runs scored, with 63, and hit by pitches, with 11, all in 2014 when she and two other teammates set the program record for single-season games played with 44
  • Over her four-year tenure, the Quakers went 91-72, bookending her career with ODAC Tournament berths including the first of the program's two ODAC Semifinals appearances, and a then-program-record 29 wins when Luther was a senior in 2014.
