- Former LC multi-sport student-athlete in baseball, basketball, and soccer
- Director of Athletics and intramural activities from 1979-89
- Founded the women's track & field program
- Joined faculty at Lynchburg in 1961
- Named ODAC Coach of the Year 12 times in various sports over his 36-year tenure
- Named to the Lynchburg Sports Hall of Fame in 1984 and presented with the T. Gibson Hobbs Award for significant contributions to his church, community, and alma mater in 1994
