HONOREE FROM ROANOKE COLLEGE
- A two-sport team captain at Roanoke, competing in soccer and lacrosse, he helped the Maroons win a men’s lacrosse national championship in 1978. Was an All-South, All-ODAC, and All-Virginia Intercollegiate Soccer Association (VISA) selection as well as the 1979 RC Male Athlete of the Year
- Returned as a coach to RC in 1986, primarily coaching men’s soccer but also serving as the men’s lacrosse, women’s tennis, and men’s golf coach at various times
- At the helm of the men’s soccer team, he won eight ODAC Titles and made six NCAA Championship appearances, including a program best NCAA Quarterfinal appearance in 1993. He also won back-to-back ODAC titles with the men’s lacrosse team during his two seasons with the program in 1987 and 1988
- Was a six-time ODAC Men’s Soccer Coach of the Year, 1993 Men’s Soccer All-South Region Coach of the Year, and a two-time ODAC Men’s Lacrosse Coach of the Year
- Became Roanoke’s Director of Athletics in 1989 and served for 34 years, helping to oversee growth of the department in that span which included the addition of seven sports
- Was instrumental in molding Roanoke Athletics into the landscape it is today, in part to his work in the development of Kerr Stadium and the Cregger Center.
