ODAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 8

First Report of 2024

  • DAVIDSON HUBBARD | HAMPDEN-SYDNEY | SR | F | CHARLOTTE, N.C.
    Hubbard, a senior from Charlotte, N.C., put together a career-best performance to help the nationally sixth-ranked Tigers post a 2-0 record over the past two weeks that featured an 18-point win over top-ranked John Carroll University just before the holiday season. Hubbard registered a career-high 31 points with a game-best nine rebounds in Hampden-Sydney's 85-67 triumph over the Blue Streaks. He was 13-of-23 from the field and buried a trio of shots from deep. He also hit on both of his free throw attempts to go with three assists and two steals. Hubbard then posted his third double-double of the season after the break (20th of his career) in a 64-58 win over Salisbury. He was 5-of-10 from the field on the way to 12 points with 10 rebounds. He chipped in two steals. For the season, Hubbard is eighth in the ODAC in scoring (15.2 ppg) and fifth in rebounding (8.0 rpg). He is 10th in field goal shooting (68-of-134 - .507).

    • Bridgewater forward Aaron Oates went for 15 points, 10 boards, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 4 blocked shots in a 69-52 loss to Mary Washington; posted 15 points with 6 rebounds in a 61-54 win over Salisbury.
    • EMU forward Jazen Walker posted his 1st career double-double with 16 points on 11 rebounds in a 71-60 win over Wilson.
    • Guilford forward Julius Burch posted 3 double-doubles in the Quakers' 2-1 stretch – 17 points and 14 boards with 3 assists in a 65-58 loss to Shenandoah; 15 points with 11 boards and 7 steals in a 69-41 win over Southern Virginia; 10 points and 12 rebounds with 6 assists in a 64-33 win over William Peace.
    • Lynchburg forward Jonathan Faust helped the Hornets to a 3-1 stretch – 16 points with 7 boards and 2 steals in an 82-60 win over Centre; season-high 17 points with 3 boards, 2 assists, and 2 steals in a 73-71 loss to Marymount; 11 points with 4 boards in an 85-72 win over Spalding; 13 points with 7 rebounds in a 103-53 win over Mt. St. Mary (N.Y.).
    • Randolph center Landon Wagoner helped the WildCats run their winning streak to 4 straight with 3 wins over break – 11 points with 5 boards and 3 blocked shots in a 63-59 win over Marymount; career-high 17 points with 13 boards and 4 assists in a 74-65 win over Centre; 12 points with 6 rebounds in a 79-56 win over Brevard.
    • Randolph-Macon forward Daniel Mbangue earned MVP honors at the RMC Coaches Tournament with 7 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 blocked shots in a 91-53 win over Bryn Athyn and 15 points, 13 rebounds, and 7 assists in an 82-63 triumph over PSU Harrisburg.
    • Roanoke forward Justin Kuthan helped Roanoke to a 3-1 stretch; went for 16 points and 11 boards in a 79-71 win over Eastern; posted 26 points with 13 rebounds and 2 assists in an 87-73 win over Worcester St.; registered 17 points with 7 boards in a 79-75 win over Ohio Wesleyan; named MVP of the Cregger Invitational.
    • Shenandoah guard Jaylen Williams posted 13 points with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in the Hornets 65-58 win over #3 Guilford, the first ranked win in program history; registered 23 points and tied a career-high with 14 rebounds to go with 3 assists in a 74-64 win over Elizabethtown.
    • Washington and Lee forward Jack d'Entremont helped WLU split 4 games over the break; 20 points with 10 rebounds and 3 assists in a 78-70 loss to Trinity (Texas); 5 points with 4 boards in an 87-61 loss to St. Thomas (Texas); 17 points with 9 boards, 3 steals, and 2 blocked shots in a 75-70 win over Franklin & Marshall; 23 points, 6 boards and 4 blocked shots in a 74-73 comeback win over Denison where d'Entremont made the go-ahead layup with 5-seconds to play.
