ODAC Women's Basketball Report: Week 14

  • MARY SCHLEUSNER | WASHINGTON AND LEE | SO. | F | CHARLOTTE, N.C.
    Schleusner, a sophomore from Charlotte, N.C., continues to ramp up her game with the season winding down as she racked up one more double-double to lead #23 Washington and Lee to a pair of ODAC wins to improve to 15-1 in conference play and 21-2 overall atop the league table. Schleusner scored 52 points and pulled down 34 rebounds in 49 total minutes on the floor while shooting 62.9 percent (22-of-35) from the field. In a 109-54 victory over Averett, Schleusner registered 26 points on 10-of-16 from the field and 6-of-6 from the line. She added nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and four blocked shots to her line in a 22 minute shift. On the weekend, Schleusner set a new WLU women's basketball record with 25 rebounds to go with 26 points in 27 minutes in a 75-58 victory over Randolph-Macon. Her 25 rebounds mark the third-highest total corralled by one player in Division III this season and are three shy of the ODAC record set by former RMC standout Katie Anderson. Schleusner was 12-of-19 from the field against the Yellow Jackets and added three assists, a steal, and four blocked shots. She is currently tied for second in the country with 18 doubles. She leads Division III in defensive rebounding (9.9) and ranks second total rebounding (14.9) and overall rebounds (343). She is fourth in field goals made (212) and blocked shots (74), seventh in points (521), and 10th in scoring (22.7).
