FOREST, Va. --- A few compelling matchups with implications on the ODAC standings dotted the final date of women's lacrosse fixtures ahead of the ODAC Women's Lacrosse Tournament. Two ties remained in the league table, one that impacted quarterfinal hosting opportunities in the bracket's unique construction and the other determining the final squad in the event's eight-team field.
Free from tiebreakers are the top-three seeds in the tournament, each of which are currently ranked by the IWLCA. Eighth-ranked Washington and Lee University (13-3, 9-0) marched to a 9-0 record in the conference's unbalanced schedule format. The Generals are joined by 14th-ranked Roanoke College (14-3, 8-1) as the top-two seeds, earning them byes to the semifinal round.
Shenandoah University (13-3, 7-2), ranked 22nd in Division III, occupies the third seed. They will host one quarterfinal matchup on Tuesday.
The other quarterfinal host will be fourth-seeded University of Lynchburg (10-7, 6-3). The Hornets locked with Randolph-Macon College (12-5, 6-3) in the league table. Lynchburg's 14-13 win over the Yellow Jackets in the regular season satisfied the ODAC's first tiebreaker, head-to-head results. RMC will play as the fifth seed and host a first round contest on Saturday.
Bridgewater College (8-8, 5-4) will host the other first round outing as the sixth seed. Their opponent will be seventh seeded Ferrum College (10-6, 4-5).
The remaining tie impacting the tournament field involved Averett University (4-10, 3-6) and Virginia Wesleyan University (4-11, 3-6) for the eighth seed. The Marlins posted a 13-8 victory in their regular season matchup with the Cougars, awarding VWU the final position in the bracket.
This year's tournament marks the second season of women's lacrosse's unique bracket format. First round contests at the fifth and sixth seeds are set for Saturday, April 27. The quarterfinals will be hosted by the third and fourth seeds on Tuesday, April 30, while the semifinals will be played at the top one and two seeds on Friday, May 3. The championship game will be hosted by the highest remaining seed on Sunday, May 5.
