Four Teams Advance to ODAC Baseball Championship Series

Capital One Park Set to Welcome Teams for Double-Elimination Final

FOREST, Va. --- Weather and end of year academic and campus event schedules broke up play and changed the format for some of the opening weekend series, but by the end of play on Sunday, four teams had qualified for the ODAC Baseball Tournament Championship Series. Capital One Park in Tysons, Va., opens its doors for championship play on May 9-11 in Tysons, Va.

The top-four seeds all advanced from their best-of-three opening series, each by winning the first two contests of their matchup. Randolph-Macon College, the #1 seed in the ODAC's eight-team field, defeated #8 Washington and Lee, 3-2 and 12-1. The Yellow Jackets will open the championships series with defending ODAC and NCAA champion University of Lynchburg. The fourth-seeded Hornets earned two wins over fifth-seeded Bridgewater College in a doubleheader on Friday, 9-4 and 5-2.

Second-seeded Roanoke College will be the designated home team in the second of two games on the first day at Capital One Park. The Maroons paved their way with two wins on Friday over #7 Virginia Wesleyan University, 8-3 and 13-6. RC will meet #3 Shenandoah University on Thursday. The Hornets defeated #6 Guilford College, 12-4, on Saturday and 11-7 on Sunday.

Capital One Park boasts impressive amenities in its new state-of-the-art framework with a major league quality synthetic surface and natural dirt pitching mound that blends strong protection against inclement weather with traditional feel to the game. It has been put through its paces early on in hosting several tournaments as well as home-venue games for local Georgetown University and Marymount University. Capital One Park will also host the A10 championship later in May.

Fans will benefit from several viewing and entertainment including a picnic area down the first base line and a recently completed party deck in center field. The stadium features 300 fixed seats surrounding the home plate area and 350 bleachers along the third base line.

Games are slated to begin on Thursday, May 9 and continue through Saturday, May 11. As many as seven games will be played to determine the 2024 ODAC champion.
