ODAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 11

ODAC men's basketball teams competed in a dozen conference matches to account for the majority of the 14 overall games played. The top-five teams in the league table are all either ranked or receiving votes towards the latest D3hoops.com top-25. Hampden-Sydney, Randolph-Macon, Roanoke, and Virginia Wesleyan are all 13-3 overall with Guilford at 12-4. Each has won at least six league games with Roanoke atop the chart at 7-1. H-SC is ranked eighth by D3hoops, while RMC is 13th. RC (48), VWU (31), and GC (8) are all receiving votes towards the poll.

  • AMARI MOORER | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | JR. | F | FREDERICKSBURG, VA.
    Moorer, a junior from Fredericksburg, Va., put together a strong overall showing in helping Virginia Wesleyan rattle off ODAC wins at then 24th-ranked Guilford (69-50) and at home against Lynchburg (97-59). The Marlins held both teams under 60 points, including just 50 markers at GC to highlight the 500th career-win in head coach Dave Macedo's career. Moorer contributed to both sides of VWU's 166-109 scoring margin in going for 18 points, six rebounds (4 def.), three assists, four steals, and a blocked shot against the Quakers. He followed that with 11 points, two boards, four assists, two steals, and a blocked shot against the Hornets. He was 10-of-19 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line overall. For the season, Moorer is second in the ODAC in rebounding (8.0) and steals (32), fifth in blocked shots (14), eighth in field goal shooting (.532; 91-of-171), and 14th in scoring (13.1).

  • JABRIL ROBINSON | RANDOLPH-MACON | JR. | G | ROCKVILLE, MD.
    Robinson, a junior guard from Rockville, Md., put together a strong week in helping nationally 13th-ranked Randolph-Macon increase its winning streak to 10 straight games with victories over then seventh-ranked Christopher Newport (77-72) and at Ferrum (73-65). Robinson averaged 16.5 points and 4.5 rebounds with five steals, three assists, and just one turnover as a primary ball-handler over the two games. He also came up clutch in both contests. Against CNU, Robinson registered 15 points and three rebounds with three assists, and three steals. He gave RMC the lead twice in the final 3:20, including the bucket that put the Yellow Jackets up for good at 70-68 with 1:32 to go. At Ferrum, Robinson scored 12 of his 18 points in the second half including the jumper that put RMC in the lead for good and a pair of free throws to seal the win late-on. He added six rebounds (3 off.) and two steals to his line. For the season, Robinson is tied for 12th in the ODAC in scoring (13.3). He leads the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.3) and is tied for fourth in assists (62) and tied for sixth in three-pointers made (31).

    • Jordan Cooper, BC: scored 18 points in both games to go with 10 boards, 4 assists, and 5 steals in ODAC home wins over Randolph (75-63) and Averett (72-53); 15-of-25 (.600) from the field
    • Aaron Oates, BC: averaged 10.5 points and 5.5 rebounds with 4 assists and 3 steals in ODAC home wins over Randolph (75-63) and Averett (72-53)
    • Aaron Brooks, EMU: averaged 23.0 points and shot .727 (16-of-22) from the field including 5-of-7 from 3pt and 9-of-9 from the line in an ODAC split versus Ferrum (L, 81-71) and at Randolph (W, 79-69); posted 9 assists and 7 steals while averaging 4.0 boards over the 2 games
    • Dawson Edwards, GC: averaged 9.0 points and 3.5 boards with 4 steals and 2 assists in an ODAC split versus Virginia Wesleyan (L, 69-50) and at Washington and Lee (W, 72-51)
    • Caleb Farrish, GC: shot 10-of-15 (.667) including 7-of-9 from 3-point on the way to averaging 13.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in an ODAC split versus Virginia Wesleyan (L, 69-50) and at Washington and Lee (W, 72-51); matched career-high with 20 points, 7 made field goals, and 6-of-7 from 3-point at WLU
    • Adam Brazil, H-SC: averaged 14.0 points and 5.5 rebounds with 7 assists and 6 steals in road wins at Washington and Lee (69-59) and Mary Washington (74-69)
    • Liam Joyce, RMC: averaged 5.0 points and 4.0 rebounds with 5 steals, 3 blocked shots, and 2 assists in wins over then #7 Christopher Newport (77-72) and at Ferrum (73-65); head coach Josh Merkel's RMC teams are now 7-5 against top-10 teams all-time
