ODAC Women's Basketball Report: Week 11

ODAC teams competed in 14 games over the past week with 12 in conference play. Washington and Lee sits 20th in the D3hoops.com top-25 poll at 14-2 including 6-1 in league play. The Generals have won seven straight games, but it is Randolph-Macon that remains the hottest team in the league with 13 straight wins. The Yellow Jackets are 14-1 and 7-0 in the ODAC. Bridgewater is also unbeaten (8-0) in league games and 15-1 overall with a six-game winning streak. RMC (23) and BC (18) are receiving the most votes of teams just outside the top-25 chart.

  • JADEN ALSBERRY | BRIDGEWATER | GR. | P | STRASBURG, VA.
    Alsberry, a graduate student post from Strasburg, Va., put together a strong all-around week on the way to her second ODAC weekly award of the season, helping Bridgewater close in on a D3hoops.com national ranking – currently receiving votes (18) towards the top-25 – with two more wins to extend the Eagles winning streak to six straight games. Alsberry averaged 16.0 points and 8.0 rebounds with five steals and five blocked shots to go with a .714 shooting percentage in ODAC wins over Roanoke (73-46) and at Guilford (65-59). Against the Maroons, Alsberry went for 20 points on 9-of-11 from the field with seven boards (6 def.), three steals, and two blocked shots. She cracked 1,000 career points against RC – now at 1,017 – making her the 23rd BC women's player to reach the 1K milestone. Alsberry followed her outing versus Roanoke with 12 points, nine rebounds (6 def.), two assists, two steals, and three rejections against the Quakers. She was 6-of-10 from the field in that contest. For the season, Alsberry is tied for sixth in the ODAC in scoring (12.4) and tied for 10th in rebounding (7.7). She is third in blocked shots (24), fourth in field goal shooting (.489; 86-of-176), and tied for 13th in steals (30).

  • MARY SCHLEUSNER | WASHINGTON AND LEE | JR. | F | CHARLOTTE, N.C.
    Schleusner, a junior from Charlotte, N.C., had arguably the greatest two-game stretch in all of collegiate basketball this season by combining for 59 points and 55 rebounds in a pair of ODAC wins for nationally 20th-ranked Washington and Lee. In a rematch of last year's ODAC title game, Schleusner helped the Generals to a 62-59 win over Shenandoah. She registered 25 points and 24 rebounds. She chipped in two blocked shots, an assist, and a steal. Schleusner followed that with the only 30-30 game in college basketball this season in a 77-50 triumph at Roanoke. She posted 31 points and 31 rebounds with a whopping 15 coming via the offensive glass on the way to her second career 30-30 outing. She was 12-of-27 from the field and 7-of-9 from the foul line while adding an assist and a steal to her line. For the season, Schleusner leads all NCAA divisions in rebounding (18.3) and is second in all NCAA divisions in double-doubles (14). She is second in the ODAC in scoring (19.9) and blocked shots (40).

    • Aisha Martin, FC: averaged 12.0 points and 4.5 rebounds with 3 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocked shots in wins over Greensboro (70-53) and at EMU (62-49)
    • Courtney McMillan, GC: Averaged 14.5 points and 7.50 rebounds with 4 assists and 8 steals while shooting .521 (12-of-23) from the field in an ODAC home split with Randolph (W, 77-52) and Bridgewater (L, 65-59); double-double (18-10) versus RAND
    • Julianna Walter, GC: Averaged 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds with 6 assists, 5 steals, and a blocked shot in an ODAC home split with Randolph (W, 77-52) and Bridgewater (L, 65-59)
    • Sarah Morales, HU: set scoring career-highs twice in ODAC wins over EMU (61-54) and at Virginia Wesleyan (69-58); 22 points vs. EMU and 27 points at VWU; averaged 6.5 boards with 5 assists and 8 steals
    • Brooke Cason, LYN: Averaged 5.5 points and 4.5 rebounds with 4 assists, 2 steals, and 4 blocked shots in ODAC losses to Randolph-Macon (60-46) and at Shenandoah (50-48)
    • Catherine Kagey, RMC: 2 double-doubles for 5 on the year; averaged 14.0 points and 11.5 rebounds with 6 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocked shots in ODAC wins at Lynchburg (60-46) and over Randolph (61-45); RMC's winning streak stands at 13 straight games; RMC is receiving the most votes outside of D3hoops.com's top-25 poll
    • McKenzie Matheny, RMC: averaged 5.5 points and 5.5 rebounds with 3 assists, 5 steals, and 3 blocked shots in ODAC wins at Lynchburg (60-46) and over Randolph (61-45)
    • Terese Greene, SU: averaged 19.5 points and 9.5 rebounds with 7 assists and 5 steals in an ODAC split at #20 Washington and Lee (L, 62-59) and versus Lynchburg (W, 50-48); 1st double-double of the year (16-10) against the Hornets
