All-ODAC Women's Volleyball Awards Announced

Marlins Lead with Five Honorees, Three Schools Split Special Individual Honors

BRIDGEWATER, Va. --- As has become tradition in the ODAC, the All-ODAC Women's Volleyball Awards were announced as part of the post-match ceremonies following completion of the ODAC championship match that saw Washington and Lee University defeat Bridgewater College, 3-1, to hoist the 2025 league trophy in Nininger Hall on Saturday afternoon.

Nationally 14th-ranked Virginia Wesleyan University saw a league-high five Marlins earn a spot on one of three All-ODAC squads. That group was led by outside hitter Hannan Smith, who was named the ODAC Player of the Year. Bridgewater mentor Erin Harris garnered ODAC Coach of the Year laurels from her peers, while Eagles setter Maya Veselinovic collected ODAC Rookie of the Year plaudits. Washington and Lee outside/middle Riley Debiec received ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year distinction from the league's athletic communications personnel.

This year's list of 24 stars includes nine athletes that appeared on the 2024 awards chart. That includes five members of the 2025 All-ODAC First Team. Bridgewater outside Reagan Stoop repeats on the top squad along with VWU's Smith and a pair from Washington and Lee in outside Grace Mitchener and libero Vivi Vasquez. Debiec moves up to the first team after appearing on the second team last season.

Three repeat standouts appear on the All-ODAC Second Team with each stepping up a rung from last year's third team. That group includes BC middle Gabby AtwellGuilford College outside Natalie Moore, and University of Lynchburg outside Tori Williamson.

Hornets middle Ava Meinhardt is the only repeat honoree on the All-ODAC Third Team, taking up position on this squad for a second straight season.

Through the ODAC Tournament, Smith was the ODAC leader in kills (455) and aces (80) and was second in kills per set (3.92). She slotted fifth in digs (442), seventh in digs per set (3.81), and ninth in attack percentage (.275, 455-157-1083). In the ODAC semifinals against Washington and Lee, Smith notched a season-high 34 hills, which broke the VWU single-match record and ties for third as the most in a match in the ODAC in the 25-point scoring era.

Harris is in her 15th season guiding the Eagles program. This is her second ODAC top-coaching award, joining the honor she received in 2018. BC's appearance in the ODAC title match was its first since 2007. This is the third straight season and seventh overall that Bridgewater teams have won 20 or more matches under Harris. She currently owns a 265-168 (.612) career record.

Veselinovic provided a new twist to BC's offense with the skills and hands of a setter plus the ability to serve as an attacker, allowing the Eagles to run a 5-2 system. Through the ODAC championship match, Veselinovic handed out 452 assists while adding 116 kills on a .328 attack percentage. She also picked up 83 digs and was in on 32 blocks (5 solo).

Debiec shines on and off the floor, moving up to the All-ODAC First Team after collecting second team accolades in 2024. On the court, Debiec ranked fifth in the ODAC in kills (333) and seventh in kills per set (3.08) through the ODAC Tournament. She was eighth in attack percentage (.275, 333-89-888). In the classroom, the biochemistry major with a minor in poverty and human capability studies maintains a 3.78 grade point average. She is a six-time W&L Scholar-Athlete and a member of the President's List. She has completed two internships with the University of Pittsburgh and the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty.
