ODAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 7

ODAC men's basketball teams competed in 14 non-conference games over the past week, going 8-6 overall. Some of those outings were high-profile nationally-ranked matchups with a few tournaments on the docket. Nationally second-ranked Randolph-Macon improved to 8-0 on the season with a pair of wins at the Music City Classic, while No. 13 Roanoke and No. 16 Hampden-Sydney went 1-1 at the Tigers' H-SC Holiday Classic.

  • SANTANA LYNCH | HAMPDEN-SYDNEY | GUARD
    Lynch, a sophomore from Dallas, Texas, put together a strong all-around in averaging a double-double to secure his first ODAC weekly honor in nationally 16th-ranked Hampden-Sydney's 1-1 showing at the H-SC Holiday Classic. In an 86-67 win over Wilson College, Lynch equaled his career-high with 12 rebounds (6 defensive) to go with 10 points. He was 5-of-7 from the field  and chipped in two assists and a steal. In a 91-90 loss in the final seconds to No. 11 University of Redlands, Lynch notched 14 points and eight rebounds (7 defensive) while adding in two assists, a steal, and a blocked shot to round out a solid overall outing. He was 3-for-3 from the field including 2-for-2 from deep and 6-for-6 from the line. For the season, Lynch is averaged 12.6 points and an ODAC third-best 7.6 rebounds. He is third in field goal shooting (.646; 42-of-65) with 12 assists, seven steals, and a blocked shot.

  • TRAVIS STICKNEY | HAMPDEN-SYDNEY | GUARD
    Stickney, a sophomore from Mount Pleasant, S.C., set a pair of career-high marks in helping nationally 16th-ranked Hampden-Sydney to a 1-1 showing at the H-SC Holiday Classic to earn his first ODAC weekly award of the season. Stickney registered a double-double in game one, posting 11 points and 10 rebounds (6 offensive) with an assist and two steals in an 86-67 win over Wilson College. In a 91-90 loss in the final seconds to No. 11 University of Redlands, Stickney set career-highs with 30 points and seven assists. He went 10-of-17 from the field and canned all eight of his foul shots on the way to scoring 15 of the Tigers' 20 final points. He added a steal on the defensive side of the ball. For the season, Stickney is averaging 13.3 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting .792 (19-of-24) from the stripe. He is tied for seventh in the ODAC in assists (29) in steals (13).

    • Averett forward Tyler Stephens notched a career-high 26 points with 10 boards (2nd career double-double) and 2 steals in a 102-59 win over Johnson & Wales (N.C.). Guard Jackson Sellars posted 7 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals.
    • EMU guard Isaiah Carr averaged 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds with 3 assists and 2 steals in the Royals' 1-1 week; he posted a career-high 22 points in a 68-54 win over William Peace.
    • Lynchburg forward Jamarcus Brown posted 22 points (10-of-13 shooting) with 13 rebounds in the Hornets' 107-71 win over Greensboro.
    • Roanoke guard Hamilton Grant averaged 14.5 points and 2.5 rebounds with a pair of assists in the No. 13 Maroons 1-1 week; guard Patrick Clevenger averaged 6.0 points and 8.5 rebounds with 4 assists and 2 steals.
