ODAC Softball Report: Week 10

  • GRACIE ELLIS | RANDOLPH-MACON | SR. | RHP | NEW KENT, VA.
    Ellis, a senior righty from New Kent, Virginia, continued her strong season by not allowing a run over 17 innings and recording her fourth no-hitter of the season to collect her fourth ODAC weekly honor of the season. Ellis went the distance in shutting out Roanoke, 3-0, on Monday. She gave up three hits and did not walk a batter – although she did hit one with a pitch – while fanning five Maroons. Ellis then won both games of a doubleheader road sweep of Sweet Briar. She worked the first three frames of a 10-0 shortened triumph in game one. She allowed one hit and walked one while striking out five. In game two, she went the full seven innings in a 5-0 no-hit shutout of the Vixens. She issued three free passes and registered 11 punchouts. For the season, Ellis is now 18-0 with two saves in 22 appearances (19 starts). She owns a 0.45 ERA with 179 strikeouts and 13 walks in 124.0 innings in the circle.

  • MORGAN TUCKER | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | FY. | 1B | DINWIDDIE, VA.
    Tucker, a first-year first baseman from Dinwiddie, Virginia, collects her third ODAC weekly honor of the season after helping nationally fifth-ranked Virginia Wesleyan to a 4-2 week that included an ODAC sweep of Ferrum (9-1, 2-0) and splits with Bridgewater (4-1, 4-5) and at third-ranked Christopher Newport (4-9, 9-7). Against the Panthers, Tucker went 3-for-6 with a run scored in game one and an RBI in game two. Against the Eagles, she went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI in game one and walked and drove in a third run in the series in game two. At CNU, Tucker went 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in game one and followed with a 3-for-4 showing with two doubles including a big 3-run two-bagger to start VWU's late comeback towards a win over the Captains. For the season, Tucker is hitting .484 with a 1.277 OPS. She has 46 hits with 11 doubles and 46 RBI.
