All-ODAC Softball Awards Announced

VWU's Campbell, RMC's Ellis Earn Top Pitcher, Player Honors

FOREST, Va. --- Division III qualifier Randolph-Macon College saw a league-best nine Yellow Jackets assigned to an all-conference team with champion Virginia Wesleyan University and tournament second seed Bridgewater College each earning eight all-league spots to highlight the 2025 All-ODAC Softball Awards.

Four schools split five special individual honors. VWU second baseman Laci Campbell received ODAC Player of the Year laurels from the conference's head coaches, while Marlins teammate Morgan Tucker secured ODAC Rookie of the Year plaudits. RMC righty Gracie Ellis earns her third career ODAC Pitcher of the Year plaque. Bridgewater mentor Megan Pleskovic was honored by her peers as the ODAC Coach of the Year, and University of Lynchburg lefty Emily Charlton was recognized as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league's athletic communications personnel.

ODAC softball honors 40 all-conference standouts selected prior to the end of the conference tournament. A total of 15 of this season's All-ODAC stars appeared on last year's lists, one more than in 2024. That group includes seven members of the All-ODAC First Team.

Five players appear on the first team for at least a second season running including RMC's Ellis and outfield teammate Amanda Lanyon, Bridgewater first baseman Jazmyne Smith, Lynchburg shortstop Sarah Watts, and VWU third baseman Mackenzie Myers. The Marlins' Campbell moves up from the second team, while RMC catcher Kayla Davis makes the jump from the 2024 third team.

Campbell, a junior from Washington, N.C., is one of the most dynamic players in Division III as a top-of-the-order batter and defender with the athletic ability to play multiple positions in the field, most commonly second base. Entering the NCAA Tournament, Campbell is hitting .407 with a 1.057 OPS. She is second in Division III in runs scored (59) and third in stolen bases (50). Her 0.532 on-base percentage is powered by 48 hits, 24 walks, and being hit by 11 pitches. Campbell is one of the toughest players in Division III to strike out, having returned to dugout just twice in 118 at bats. In the field, Campbell has made just two errors in 135 total chances, good for a .985.

Ellis, a senior from New Kent, Va., pairs this year's top-pitching award with the honors she earned in 2022 and 2023, the former also featuring the ODAC Rookie of the Year award. Entering the NCAA Tournament, Ellis owns a 21-4 record, marking 20 or more wins in all four of her seasons in Ashland. She has appeared in 29 games with 19 complete games, two saves, and a Division III-high 12 shutouts. In 166.0 innings, Ellis ranks second in Division III in WHIP (0.60) and third in ERA (0.67), both of which are career-best marks for her. She is second in Division III with 215 strikeouts to mark her fourth straight year of at least 201 punchouts. She is the Yellow Jackets career program record-holder in wins (87), strikeouts (882), appearances (119), shutouts (38), and saves (9).

Pleskovic completed her sixth season guiding the Eagles softball program. This is her first ODAC top coaching honor. Bridgewater won at least 20 games for the third time in the last four seasons, but jumped from 19 victories in 2024 to 29 this year and the second seed in the ODAC tournament with an 18-4 conference record. BC was the lone team to take a regular season ODAC contest from top-seeded Virginia Wesleyan. Pleskovic will enter next season with a 116-97 (.545) career record in six years, all at Bridgewater.

Tucker, a first-year from Dinwiddie, Va., pairs the ODAC top-rookie award with an All-ODAC First Team selection. Tucker immediately slotted into the middle of the nationally-ranked Marlins lineup and took off, currently ranking fourth in Division III with 63 RBI. She enters the NCAA Tournament batting .480 with an eye-opening 1.235 OPS. Tucker has smacked 16 doubles with three triples and three homeruns among her 60 hits, powering her way to a .728 slugging percentage. She has walked 10 times and, like Campbell, has proven to be tough to strike out with just eight in 125 at bats.

Charlton, a fifth-year from Chesapeake, Va., shines both in and out of the pitching circle for Lynchburg. In the classroom, Charlton maintained a 3.916 grade point average on the way to earning an undergraduate degree in elementary education. She posted a perfect 4.0 in her first year working towards a Masters in interdisciplinary studies. Charlton has three times been honored as Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators (CSC) and four-times each as an Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athlete and ODAC All-Academic Team selection. Charlton was named the 2024 Lynchburg Female Academic Athlete of the Year upon completing her undergraduate work and was the recipient of the 2024 Kate Gillispie Award as an outstanding student in primary education. She volunteers with Campus Outreach and is a graduate assistant for the School of Professional and Applied Sciences in the Lynchburg education department.

In between the lines, Charlton went 10-6 in 23 appearances (18 starts) with a 1.66 ERA in 97.0 innings of work. She tossed eight complete games with a pair of shutouts and fanned 61 batters. Charlton closed her Lynchburg career with a 48-23 record over 118 appearances (72 starts) and 468.1 innings in the circle. She struck out 280 batters and posted a 2.15 ERA. She was a three-time All-ODAC Second Team choice and an All-ODAC Third Team selection this season.
