TYSONS, Va. --- Championship weekend of the ODAC Baseball Tournament kicked off on Thursday afternoon at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va. In keeping with tradition, the ODAC Tournament features the first public announcement of the All-ODAC Baseball Awards as determined by the league's head coaches.
Bridgewater College second baseman
Nick Stavros was named the ODAC Player of the Year, while University of Lynchburg right-hander
Tyler Kaltreider garnered ODAC Pitcher of the Year laurels. Averett University mentor
Kenny Fleming received ODAC Coach of the Year plaudits from his peers. Randolph-Macon College shortstop
CJ Chatterton earned ODAC Rookie of the Year distinction, and Ferrum College outfielder
Kyle Markowitz was recognized as the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete of the Year by the league's athletic communications protocol.
ODAC tournament top-seed and nationally fifth-ranked Lynchburg lead all teams with nine all-league selections. Randolph-Macon and Shenandoah University saw six players each earn All-ODAC team slots, while Bridgewater players occupied five spots. All 12 conference teams were represented by at least one standout on this year's lists.
When it comes to returning All-ODAC talent, just 12 of the 41 all-conference selections garnered a spot for a second straight year. On the first team, Lynchburg outfielder
Joe Munitz moved up from the 2024 second team, while SU catcher
Brody Pickette and BC's Stavros made the leap from the third team.
There are five repeat honorees on the second team. RMC designated hitter
Carter Schmitt was a first team choice last season, while Guilford College outfielder
Skyler Dark and Lynchburg's trio of right-hander
Nick Mattfield, second baseman
Benton Jones, and shortstop
Brandon Garcia are second team picks for at least a second-year running.
On the third team, Roanoke's
Corey Coogan and
Kyle Moshier were both first team selections at different positions last season, but both garnered their spots this year as second basemen. Lynchburg catcher
Sean Pokorak and Shenandoah outfielder
Haden Madagan were both second teamers in 2024.
