ODAC Equestrian Report 1

The 2025-26 equestrian season kicked into gear with four member schools competing in six events. All four – Bridgewater, Lynchburg, Sewanee, Sweet Briar – earned at least one team victory with nationalled third-ranked Lynchburg starting the year 2-0. Sweet Briar and Sewanee are also nationally ranked by the NCEA at fourth and fifth in the country, respectively.

  • ABIGAIL DEVLIN | UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG
    Devlin, a senior from Newburyport, Mass., helped nationally third-ranked Lynchburg open the 2025-26 NCEA season with a pair of team victories. Devlin won her matchups in both flat competitions, including a MOP showing in the Hornets 6-4 triumph over second-ranked College of Charleston. Devlin and Camilla Murray rode Caleb with Devlin posting an 88-84 head-to-head win as the high score for the day in her competition debut. Lynchburg won that flat section, 3-2. In a 6-3 team win over Centenary University (N.J.), Devlin tied for high-score on the flat with an 89-86 win over Elizabeth Furtkevic. They both rode Balou with the Hornets winning the flat section, 3-2.

  • STELLA PATENAUDE | UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG
    Patenaude, a sophomore from Sherborn, Mass., helped the nationally third-ranked Hornets start the 2025-26 single discipline season with a pair of victories against non-conference programs. In Lynchburg's 6-4 triumph over second-ranked College of Charleston on Friday, Patenaude posted a narrow 82-81 win over Samantha Elliot. Both riders competed on Archie with Patenaude helping the Hornets win the fences competition, 3-2. In a 6-3 win over Centenary University (N.J.), Patenaude garnered MOP honors in the fences competition while riding Motaz. She defeated Elizabeth Furtkevic, 88-79, with the 88 marking not only the best score of the day but the best of Patenaude's career. Lynchburg won the fences competition, 3-1.
