FOREST, Va. --- Tiebreakers were needed to determine a pair of positions in the conference tournament bracket including for the top seed as the 2026 ODAC Women's Soccer Tournament field was set following results on Wednesday evening.
Washington and Lee University (13-1-2 overall, 8-1-1 in ODAC play) lost for the first time this year to
Bridgewater College (12-3-2, 7-1-2), but that didn't keep the nationally second-ranked Generals from securing the No. 1 seed on tiebreakers with the
University of Lynchburg (14-2-2, 8-1-1). WLU earned top-billing from its 2-1 triumph in the Hill City at the beginning of the month. Both squads share the ODAC regular season title.
Entering play on Wednesday, the assignments for the top-four teams were determined regardless of the results of the five league outings. Nationally 14th-ranked
Batten University (12-0-5, 7-0-3) is slotted third with Bridgewater tabbed fourth.
Tiebreakers to break the stalemate between
Randolph-Macon College (8-7-1, 6-4-0) and
Shenandoah University (12-5-0, 6-4-0) required a deeper dive into the ODAC's protocols than the head-to-head comparison that solved the WLU/LYN tie. RMC and SU did not face each other in ODAC play and both played identical schedules with matching results. That sent their tiebreaker to the fourth step, sport-specific measures. Women's soccer has three metrics as part of this step, which are taken in order as necessary. The first step, red and yellow card accumulation, broke the stalemate with RMC receiving just three yellow cards to SU's 14. Neither squad received a red car during the season. The Yellow Jackets will play as the fifth seed and travel to BC on Saturday, while the Hornets trek to Batten for quarterfinal play as the sixth seed.
Wednesday's results had a lot to do with the final two seeds.
Roanoke (8-6-4, 5-3-2) locked up the seventh position with its 2-1 win at
EMU (6-10-2, 4-6-0).
Randolph College (8-5-3, 4-5-1) caps the eight-team field, one point ahead of EMU in the league table. The Maroons will travel to Lynchburg in the quarterfinals, while the WildCats drive over the mountain to Washington and Lee to begin their tournament.
