ODAC Women's Volleyball Report: Week 5

ODAC women's volleyball teams were active in 20 total matches, going 8-5 against non-conference foes. Hollins (4-10, 1-4) went 3-0 overall, while No. 22 Batten (13-3, 4-2), Bridgewater (13-1, 4-0), and Roanoke (11-4, 2-1) each went 2-0 with both of BATN's victories coming against conference competition. Bridgewater, which was receiving votes towards the latest AVCA top-25, joins Batten with the most wins overall. The Eagles top the table at 13-1 overall and 4-0 in league play.

  • MARLEE BACKOVER | BRIDGEWATER | LIBERO
    Backover, a sophomore from Berryville, Va., helped Bridgewater post a pair of strong road victories to improve the Eagles season record to an ODAC-best 13-1 including 4-0 in conference play. Backover averaged 6.14 digs per set with a .952 (40-of-42) serve reception percentage over the two matches. In a 3-1 win at the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday, Backover gathered 17 digs to go with an ace. She expertly defended the Eagles' back line in a 3-0 victory at No. 24 Washington and Lee University, picking up 26 digs for 8.67 per set. She was also clean on 22 serve reception attempts. For the season, Backover is seventh in the ODAC in digs per set (3.63) and 11th in total digs (174).

  • REAGAN STOOP | BRIDGEWATER | OUTSIDE
    Stoop, a senior from Belhaven, N.C., was at her two-way best as the three-time All-ODAC First Team selection was excellent as a six-rotation outside to help Bridgewater to a pair of victories last week. Stoop averaged 4.14 kills and 4.86 points per set while also picking up 4.14 digs per set with a .961 (49-of-51) serve reception percentage. In a 3-1 win at the University of Mary Washington on Tuesday, Stoop hammered 15 kills to go with five aces towards 20.0 total points. She also picked up 11 digs on defense. In a 3-0 victory at No. 24 Washington and Lee University, Stoop registered 14 kills and added 18 digs to help the Eagles improve to 4-0 in conference and 13-1 overall, both topping the ODAC table. For the season, Stoop is second in the ODAC in kills per set (3.49) and points per set (3.08). She is second in aces per set (0.71), third in total points (213.0) and total aces (35), and fourth in total kills (171).

  • HANNAH SMITH
    Batten University, graduate student, outside hitter
    Smith powered Batten to a 2-0 conference week with 34 kills on a .345 hitting percentage, 23 digs, two service aces and 36.5 points. She registered 21 kills on a .315 clip with 18 digs and 22.5 points in a five-set win at Lynchburg before hitting .400 with 13 kills in a sweep of Randolph.

    AAJAH VAZQUEZ
    Batten University, senior, middle blocker
    Vazquez led Batten with nine total blocks, including two solo blocks, while adding seven kills and 12.5 points during a 2-0 week. She was especially effective in a five-set win at Lynchburg with five kills, two solo blocks, four block assists and 9.0 points.

    EMERSON MOATS
    EMU, junior, defensive specialist/libero
    Moats collected 50 digs and 10 service aces across three matches, reaching double figures in digs in each contest and averaging 4.55 per set. She recorded a team-high 24 digs with four aces against Marymount and added three aces in each of her other two matches, while ranking fourth in the ODAC at 4.42 digs per set for the season.

    ANNABELLE KEMPER
    Hollins University, first year, outside hitter
    Kemper was remarkably efficient off the bench, recording 24 kills on a .476 hitting percentage and 24.0 points as Hollins went 3-0. She hit .583 with eight kills in Hollins' first ODAC victory since October 1, 2019, then hit .571 against Mid-Atlantic Christian and .313 against Johnson & Wales Charlotte as Hollins secured its first three-match winning streak since the start of the 2025 season.

    KATE HARDIE
    University of Lynchburg, graduate student, outside hitter
    Hardie totaled 38 kills, eight service aces, 17 digs, two blocks and 47.0 points across three five-set matches. She opened the week with 15 kills, three aces and 19.0 points against Batten before producing a week-high 17 kills with four aces and 21.0 points against Misericordia.

    AVA MEINHARDT
    University of Lynchburg, senior, middle
    Meinhardt totaled 25 kills on a .333 hitting percentage with eight total blocks and 30.0 points across three five-set matches. She opened the week with 14 kills on a .423 clip and four blocks against Batten and later hit .375 with seven kills and two blocks against Cortland.

    ALLISON LACH
    Randolph-Macon College, junior, outside hitter
    Lach led Randolph-Macon with 25 kills while adding 10 service aces, 12 digs, two blocks and 36.5 points during a 2-1 week. She served a season-high seven aces in a sweep of Susquehanna before delivering a season-high 14 kills on a .458 hitting percentage with two aces and 16.0 points against Catholic.

    ELLIE ROCK
    Randolph-Macon College, first year, libero
    Rock collected 33 digs across three matches, including 30 during Randolph-Macon's back-to-back sweeps of Susquehanna and Catholic. She established a career high with 15 digs against Susquehanna and matched that total against Catholic while adding a career-high four assists.

    ZARAH LOVE
    Roanoke College, first year, middle hitter
    Love helped Roanoke to a 2-0 week with 16 kills on a .324 hitting percentage, 10 total blocks and 21.5 points. She hit better than .300 in both matches, recording eight kills on a .316 clip with four blocks against Averett and eight kills on a .333 clip with six blocks against Hood.

Marlee Backover
