ODAC Announces Women's Basketball Tournament Field

Washington and Lee Makes History with First Full Unbeaten Regular Season in ODAC History

FOREST, Va. --- Nationally fourth-ranked Washington and Lee University put not one but two exclamation points on its historic 2025-26 season as the Generals wrapped up the ODAC regular season championship and officially claimed the top seed in next week's ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament.

The Generals victory over Guilford College (85-65) marked their 16th in as many ties in ODAC play, which secured the second straight unbeaten league schedule joining last year's 16-0 mark posted by Randolph-Macon College. WLU's win also brought the Generals' full regular-season record to 25-0 to showcase as the first-ever completely unbeaten regular season slate in ODAC women's basketball history. The Generals are riding the Division III's second-longest winning streak, tied with the University of Scranton and trailing behind two-time defending national champion NYU, which is on an 85-game unbeaten run.

Defending ODAC champion Randolph-Macon (19-6, 13-3) has not lost in nine consecutive outings to power the Yellow Jackets to the second seed in the ODAC's eight-team championship event. Bridgewater College (19-6, 12-4) occupies third position, while Shenandoah University (19-6, 11-5) sits fourth after officially closing the regular season as Saturday night's last winning team. WLU, RMC, BC, and SU will each play host to quarterfinal games on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. to determine who will advance to the semifinals on Saturday afternoon at the Salem Civic Center in Salem.

Guilford (18-7, 9-7) opens as the fifth seed and will head north to Winchester for a showdown with Shenandoah in the quarterfinals.

Hollins University (16-9, 8-8) and Virginia Wesleyan University (14-11, 8-8) tied for sixth in the league table. HU's victory over the Marlins (69-63 on January 10) broke the tie via the ODAC's first step, awarding the sixth seed to Hollins. HU will travel to Bridgewater for their quarterfinal outing in a rematch of their regular season finale in which HU won, 54-51. Virginia Wesleyan, which has so far improved by nine overall wins and seven conference victories from last season, will play as the seventh seed and travel to Randolph-Macon on Wednesday.

The final spot in the tournament field went to Roanoke College (6-10, 12-13) on tiebreakers over the University of Lynchburg (6-10, 13-12). The two squads split two regular season matchups, which moved the tiebreaking process to the ODAC's second step, the ODAC Five-Point Tiebreaker. This step broke the stalemate with the Maroons earning the eighth seed and a trip to Lexington to meet Washington and Lee in the quarterfinals.
