ODAC Men's Basketball Report: Week 16

The final week of conference play impacted several positions in the final ODAC table towards the final league tournament bracket. Nationally second-ranked Randolph-Macon secured two wins including the last result on Saturday night to lock-in as the top seed.   • KODY CLAYTON | GUILFORD | GUARD
    Clayton, a senior from Cary, N.C., helped Guilford wrap up the eighth seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament by racking up 12 steals in a solid all-around effort in the Quakers' 1-1 showing at Averett (W, 92-79) and at Shenandoah (L, 78-72). Against the Cougars, Clayton registered seven points and six rebounds (5 defensive) to go with five assists, six steals, and a blocked shot. That win clinched GC's postseason berth. On Saturday against the Hornets, Clayton went for four points along with four assists and a half-dozen more steals. For the season, Clayton is averaging 4.6 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. He leads the ODAC in steals (66) and ranks fourth in assists (95) and fifth in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.8).

  • OMARI DEVEAUX | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | GUARD
    DeVeaux, a graduate student from Henrico, Va., is now the own of both of the ODAC's 40-point games this season in helping Virginia Wesleyan secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament following a 1-1 week that included a loss at nationally second-ranked Randolph-Macon (68-58) and a victory at Lynchburg (81-76). Against the Yellow Jackets, DeVeaux posted 13 points on 4-of-10 from the field and 5-of-9 from the line to go with a pair of rebounds, two assists, and a steal. Versus the Hornets on Saturday, the Marlins' playmaker exploded for 40 points to go with his 41-point effort in December. DeVeaux made 13-of-26 shots from the field against Lynchburg including three from deep. He was also 11-of-13 from the foul line while adding seven rebounds, an assist, and a steal. For the season, DeVeaux is tied for second in the ODAC in scoring (20.6) and pulls down 4.5 boards per game. He is fifth in the ODAC in foul shooting (.781, 118-of-151) and 10th in field goal shooting (.472, 179-of-379) and assists (68).
