ODAC Softball Report: Week 1

ODAC softball kicked into gear with 18 games over the past week before a pair of Sunday series were wiped out by the weather. Bridgewater is the early leader out of the gate at 4-0 with Lynchburg, Randolph-Macon, Shenandoah, and Sweet Briar all at 2-0. Averett is 3-1 through its first four outings.

  • MACKENZIE CAUTHORN | BRIDGEWATER | STARTER
    Cauthorn, a senior from Tappahannock, Va., went 2-0 in her first two starts of the season to help Bridgewater open the 2026 season with four victories in as many games last week. In an 8-0 triumph over Mt. Aloysius in the season-opener on Friday, Cauthorn allowed just two hits and one walk to earn the five-inning victory. She struck out nine batters. Cauthorn was again nearly blemish-free in a 1-0 win over McDaniel in the Eagles' second game on Saturday. She gave up three hits and walked one batter over 7.0 frames to collect her second victory. She fanned a half-dozen in the effort. The two shutouts give Cauthorn 13 for her career to move her into fifth position in Bridgewater's record book.

  • KAYLIE HUDSON | SWEET BRIAR | CATCH/3RD BASE
    Hudson, a senior from Lynchburg, Va., accounted for 10 of Sweet Briar's 24 runs in helping the Vixens open the 2026 season with a sweep (11-8, 13-8) of Mary Washington. Hudson went 5-for-10 overall with five RBI and five runs scored. She tripled in game one with one RBI and two runs scored while going 2-for-5. She was 3-for-5 in game two with a double, four RBI, three runs scored, and three stolen bases.
