Shenandoah Lifts Fifth ODAC Baseball Trophy

Saturday's Play Dictated by Two Offensive Outbursts Leading to Two Shortened Outings

TYSONS, Va. --- Shenandoah University overcame an offensive outburst by the University of Lynchburg in Saturday's first outing with an explosion of their own in game two on the way to hoisting the program's fifth ODAC baseball trophy and first since 2022 following three days of competition at Capital One Park in Tysons, Va.

Lynchburg (36-6-1) did its job and then some in forcing the "if necessary" winner-take-all second game by posting a 12-1 win over Shenandoah in seven innings in the day's first outing. The northern set of Hornets, however, responded with their own offensive awakening as they led 9-0 after 2.5 innings to power a 14-4 triumph over the three-time defending conference champions in the final game of the ODAC's double-elimination second weekend.

Saturday's championship also awards Shenandoah the league's automatic entry into the NCAA Division III Baseball Championship bracket. A total of 41 teams earn entry as automatic qualifiers like Shenandoah. The ODAC figures to have at least one additional program ranked well enough in the final NCAA Power Index (NPI), which would afford that school(s) with one of 23 at-large bids to the field.

The selection show on NCAA.com is set for Monday at 12:00 p.m. ET.
