Three Selected for Division III Tennis Singles Tournaments

WLU''s Long Joins Active Women's Field, SU's Suwak and Randolph's Martin Alternate for Men's Competition

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. --- ODAC representation in Tennessee may have gotten a bit deeper following the announcement of the Division III Tennis Championships singles and doubles tournament last week.

Washington and Lee University star and three-time ODAC Women's Tennis Player of the Year Lauren Long doubled up her participation in Chattanooga this weekend, qualifying with her team for next week's quarterfinals a few days after learning she was an outright selection for the women's singles tournament.

In the men's ranks, Randolph College standout Jacob Martin and 2025 ODAC Player of the Year Dominick Suwak from Shenandoah University were selected as alternates for the men's singles event. Martin and Suwak are the first players from an ODAC school not named Washington and Lee to earn at least an alternate designation since 1996.

The NCAA announced its Division III singles and doubles fields on Wednesday, May 6. Each event includes 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams with their selections determined by the respective sport's Division III championship committees.

The women's tournaments are slated for May 22-25, picking up right after the team tournament's window from May 18-21. The men's singles and doubles affairs will take place May 23-26 after the team outing May 19-22. All matches will take place at the Champions Tennis Club.

Long is a three-time All-American in addition to her three ODAC top player awards. She is 14-3 in all matches this season, giving her a career mark of 65-14 entering the women's team quarterfinals.

Martin and Suwak will both need players in the active field to scratch from competition for them to compete in Chattanooga. Suwak, the second alternate on the list, is 17-1 this season and 37-5 over the past two years. He helped the Hornets reach their first ODAC championship match, finishing as the runner-up to Washington and Lee. Martin is seventh on the Division III singles alternate list. He enters potential play with a 15-5 overall record and 12-4 mark in dual events. He helped lead the WildCats to the ODAC semifinals for a second straight year.

The draw for the men's singles and doubles tournaments will be announced on Friday, May 22 at 1:00 p.m. ET. The women's draws will be posted on NCAA.com the next day.
