Joe Munitz went 3-for-4 and drove in three runs while righty
Tyler Kaltreider tossed seven strong frames in helping the University of Lynchburg open regional play of the Division III Baseball Championship with a 9-1 victory over Penn State Behrend at Bank of the James Stadium on Friday.
Lynchburg (37-6-1) moves on to game four of the regional setup on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. ET. At the time of this release, potential opponents Maryville College (Tenn.) and Christopher Newport University were in extra innings of their first contests.
Munitz led three Hornets with multiple hits with his 3-for-4 day that included an RBI double to open the game's scoring in the third inning and a two-run single in the fifth to give Lynchburg a 4-1 lead. Second baseman

Sean Pokorak each had two hits with Pokorak driving in the Hornets second run in the third inning.
Right fielder
Kyle Flora and third baseman
Kyle Moshier each drove in a pair. Flora got one of his in a painful way, taking a pitch off his body with the bases loaded in fifth. He doubled home Munitz in the eighth. Moshier registered both of his RBI via sacrifices with a fly out to left in the fifth and a safety squeeze in the eighth.
Kaltreider improved to 9-1 with his seven-inning outing. He allowed one run on five hits. He walked a trio and struck out seven.
Colin Bolla took the loss for the Lions, falling to 8-2. He gave up six runs on five hits with seven walks and five strikeouts. Lynchburg batters got 10 free passes from PSU-Behrend pitching.
Designated hitter David Gibson led the Lions with two hits including a double. Adam Cooper also doubled, scoring Gibson in the fourth.
