LYNCHBURG, Va. --- The University of Lynchburg cracked a season-high 23 hits to support starter
Logan Tapman going the distance as the Hornets put themselves into the Lynchburg Regional final with a 18-1 triumph over Maryville College (Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon in Bank of the James Stadium.
Lynchburg (38-6-1) now has two chances to claim the regional title on Sunday. They will face either Christopher Newport University or Maryville in two possible games in the double-elimination format. First pitch of game one is set for 11:00 a.m. ET. If Lynchburg were to lose that outing, a winner-take-all clash for a spot in the super regionals would be played roughly 45 minutes following the conclusion of the first game.
Right fielder
Kyle Flora went 4-for-4 at the dish and came just a double shy of the cycle. He was one of six Hornets with three or more hits. Among Flora's knocks were an RBI triple in the third and a two run blast to left to close the game's scoring in the seventh inning.

Jack (4) and
Sean (3) -- combined for seven RBI with Jack notching a pair of RBI doubles and Sean highlighting his day with a two-run triple in the first inning. They both had three hits and scored seven combined runs.
Shortstop
Brandon Garcia went 3-for-6 with an RBI, while center fielder
Quinn Madden went 3-for-5 with another RBI. Third baseman
Kyle Moshier went 3-for-5 with two driven in.
Tapman fired the ball 123 times with his right arm on the way to the complete-game effort, improving to 9-0 on the season. He allowed one run while scattering eight hits. He walked a pair and fanned four while registering 11 ground ball outs.
Titus Torbett took the loss for the Scots, falling to 5-4. He allowed four runs on four hits with a walk and a strikeout in just one inning on the hill. Gavin Mohrman (6 runs, 1.0 IP) and Cody Boisvert (6 runs, 12 hits, 3.2 IP) were also greeted unkindly by Lynchburg bats. Jalon Page allowed two runs on two hits with a strikeout over the final 2.1 innings.
Left fielder Det Dettwiller led Maryville with two hits. Center fielder Colin Dunworth scored the Scots run on a balk by Tapman.
