Generals Secure Max Points for Second Straight Season to Lead ODAC Women's Soccer Poll

Five Teams Eclipse 100 Points, One More Than in 2025

FOREST, Va. --- Two-time defending conference champion Washington and Lee University secured the maximum number of points possible for the second straight season to headline the 2026 ODAC Women's Soccer Preseason Poll.

The Generals garnered 12 first place votes to power their chart-topping 144 points in the annual survey of the league's head coaches. Five schools eclipsed 100 total points, which is one more squad than in the 2025 table.

Newly coined Batten University received the remaining top nod on the way to 126 tallies to sit second. Bridgewater College stands third at 119 markers. Just two points separates the conference's two sets of Hornets with the University of Lynchburg fourth with 105 points and Shenandoah University with 103 tallies.

In the sections below, we look back to the 2025 season to set the tone for this year and then dive into some features of ODAC women's soccer for the upcoming 2026 campaign.

    • For the third year in a row, eight ODAC schools posted .500 or better records with four boasting .600-plus winning percentages
      • Those eight squads went 96-49-17 (.645) overall, marking the third straight year that the ODAC's winningest group has posted a .640 or better winning percentage
    • The ODAC Tournament featured eight teams in a traditional bracket format
      • Washington and Lee entered as the top seed after going 10-0-0 in league contests for the second straight year
      • Batten (then Virginia Wesleyan), Shenandoah, Bridgewater, Randolph-Macon, Roanoke, Lynchburg, and EMU comprised the rest of the field
      • Quarterfinals: WLU def. EMU, 9-0; BC def. RMC, 5-1; SU def. RC, 2-1; BATN def. LYN, 1-0 (OT)
      • Semifinals: WLU def. BC, 3-2 (OT), BATN def. SU, 2-1
      • Championship: WLU adv. vs. BATN, 1-1 – won title, 7-6, on PKs
    • Washington and Lee won its sixth overall and second straight ODAC women's soccer title
      • WLU has appeared in four of the past six title games
      • Batten has played for the ODAC trophy each of the past five seasons, hoisting a pair (2023, 2021)
    • For the seventh time in ODAC history, three teams were selected for play in the NCAA's 64-team Division III Women's Soccer Championship bracket
      • Washington and Lee entered as the ODAC's automatic qualifier
      • Bridgewater and Batten (then Virginia Wesleyan) qualified as at-large selection via their respective NPI rankings
    • Washington and Lee was selected to host early round action at Watt Field
    • Batten traveled north for play at Johns Hopkins University, while Bridgewater also went north on a western track to Cleveland, Ohio for competition at Case Western Reserve University

    • United Soccer Coaches Preseason Top-25
      • The United Soccer Coaches released its annual IWSOC Division III Preseason Coaches Poll on August 4
      • Washington and Lee is the lone ODAC team in the table, beginning the season seventh in the country.
      • Last year's final four are this season's top-four to open the 2026 slate with two-time defending national champion Washington University in St. Louis perched above 2025 runner-up Emory University; semifinalists University of Chicago and Tufts University are slotted third and fourth, respectively

  • Consistency continues with regard to returning All-ODAC women's soccer talent with 24 stars back from the 2025 all-league lists. That is the same amount of award winning standouts that featured to open the 2024 season and one more than took to conference fields to begin 2025.

    Representation from the 2025 All-ODAC First, Second, and Third Teams are identical with eight of 13 stars from each squad back in 2026. Bridgewater tops the chart with five all-league standouts returning. Batten, Shenandoah, and Washington and Lee each welcome back four all-conference honorees. Lynchburg and Roanoke don three returners each.

    In terms of special individual award winners, two-time reigning ODAC Coach of the Year Tiffany Pins enjoys the return of ODAC Rookie of the Year, midfielder Mary Parrish Green, among her haul of returning stars.

      • If one school were slated to host the field hockey, men's soccer, and women's soccer championship games on that final Saturday (11/7/26), men's soccer would move to Sunday in odd years, while women's soccer would move to Sunday in even years
    • The Division III Women's Soccer Championship bracket will be announced on NCAA.com on Monday, November 9

        • Capital University (OAC) and the Columbus Sports Commission will serve as hosts of this year's final event with the men's soccer final four joining the women's final four in Columbus, Ohio. All six games over the four days will be played at Historic Crew Stadium.
