FOREST, Va. --- Shenandoah University goalkeeper Cassiday Alexander picked up national recognition on Wednesday morning as she was named the Division III Defensive Player of the Week by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).

Alexander is the second ODAC player and SU standout to earn a weekly award from the NFHCA this season. Kierney Weigle collected offensive player of the week laurels from Week 1.

Alexander, a sophomore from Millington, Md., made 10 combined saves as No. 20 Shenandoah picked up a pair of victories against strong competition. In a 3-2 triumph over former top-10 ranked Dickinson College on Wednesday, Alexander made a pair of stops in a full shift. She spent extra time guarding the Hornets' Cage on Saturday as she made eight eight saves to preserve SU's 1-0 double-overtime victory at No. 7 Franklin & Marshall College for her first shutout of 2026. For the season, Alexander owns a 1.29 GAA and a .758 save percentage with 25 saves.
