ODAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 4

ODAC teams took part in 13 games last week with 12 featuring as the first conference outings of the season. Nationally 2nd-ranked Washington and Lee (7-0-0) won three league matchups to give the Generals an early nine points in the ODAC table. Lynchburg (8-1-0) picked up two league wins to go with a narrow non-conference loss to No. 9 Emory University in their third contest. Bridgewater (6-1-1) and Roanoke (4-2-2) played three ODAC games and went 1-0-2 each. Batten (5-0-2) remained unbeaten on the season with an ODAC win in its lone outing.

  • JULIA SALO | LYNCHBURG | GOALKEEPER
    Salo, a sophomore from Lexington, S.C., put in a pair of 90-minute efforts in front of Lynchburg's goal as she helped the Hornets to a 2-1-0 week. On Wednesday in Lynchburg's ODAC opener at Shenandoah, Salo saw 12 shots come her way and she was equal to all five that were on-target, helping Lynchburg post a 1-0 shutout over SU. Salo did not feature in Lynchburg's 9-0 triumph over Hollins on Saturday, but she donned on the gloves on Sunday in the Hornets' 1-0 setback at No. 9 Emory University. A total of 13 shots were fired her way with six on-goal. She saved five of them to give her 19 saves on the year. For the season, Salo owns an .864 save percentage and a .460 goals against average.

  • MEGAN ZIMMERMAN | WASHINGTON AND LEE | MIDFIELDER
    Zimmerman, a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio, helped the scoreboard turn in all three of No. 2 Washington and Lee's victories last week, registering seven points on three goals and an assist. Zimmerman assisted on the Generals' opening goal in an 11-0 win at Sweet Briar College on Tuesday before tallying the lone score in a 1-0 victory over Guilford College the following night. Zimmerman then kickstarted the offense at Randolph College with the team's first and third goals in a 6-0 win. For the season, Zimmerman leads the ODAC in points (18) and is tied with EMU's Bridget Hay atop the goals-scored chart as her eight goals have already tied her single-season career-high from 2024. WLU is off to its best start (7-0-0) to a traditional fall season since 1997 (10-0-0).

  • ALAINA ALSTON
    Batten, senior, forward
    Alston registered two points on one goal in Batten's 2-1 ODAC victory over Shenandoah. Her tally proved to be the game-winning goal for the Marlins.

    ERINN LOCKARD
    Bridgewater, sophomore, goalkeeper
    Lockard played all 180 minutes and did not allow a goal as Bridgewater went 1-0-1 against a pair of ODAC opponents. She made five saves with a 1.000 save percentage, recording two saves in a scoreless draw with Roanoke and three in a 2-0 shutout of Randolph-Macon.

    SOPHIA PHILLIPS
    Bridgewater, junior, midfield
    Phillips recorded two points on one goal as Bridgewater went 1-0-1 in ODAC play. She scored the game-winning goal off a feed from Sienna Smith in the Eagles' 2-0 victory over Randolph-Macon.

    KARINA BONDARUK
    EMU, sophomore, forward
    Bondaruk scored two points with the game-winning goal in EMU's 1-0 victory over Guilford. The result gave the Royals their first win over the Quakers since the 2017 season.

    CJ JEFFERSON
    EMU, sophomore, goalkeeper
    Jefferson made four saves over 90 minutes with a 1.000 save percentage in EMU's 1-0 shutout of Guilford. The victory was EMU's first over Guilford since 2017 and marked the first time since that season that the Royals held the Quakers scoreless.

    LEIGHA GRONAU
    Lynchburg, freshman, forward
    Gronau totaled four points on two goals across Lynchburg's three matches, scoring in conference victories over Shenandoah and Hollins. Her goal against Shenandoah was the game-winner in a 1-0 victory before she added another tally in the Hornets' 9-0 win over Hollins.

    GRACE SUCHY
    Roanoke, senior, goalkeeper
    Suchy did not allow a goal in 135 minutes as Roanoke went 1-0-1 in ODAC play, making seven saves with a 1.000 save percentage. She made six saves over 90 minutes in a scoreless draw with Bridgewater before adding one save in 45 minutes of a 2-0 victory over Sweet Briar.

    AMELIA MANKE
    Washington and Lee, senior, midfielder
    Manke anchored the defensive unit for 166 minutes as No. 2 Washington and Lee earned three ODAC shutout victories and improved to 7-0 overall and 3-0 in league play. The Generals recorded their sixth shutout of the season and fifth straight during the week and had allowed just one goal all season.
