The stretch run is almost here for all of the Division III world and to celebrate, the nation has been involved with annual D3 Week festivities and programming. The ODAC is no stranger to the work for SAAC - both locally on-campus and nationally with league representation. Mental health awareness has long been a keystone topic for Division III SAAC and continues to be a focus within the ODAC. Brad and J.J. had the chance to speak with a pair of individuals involved with mental health awareness initiatives in Randolph College junior softball player and WildCats SAAC vice president, Amanda Lawhorn, and Tara Nunley, the program manager for the Campus Suicide Prevention Center of Virginia as well as a licensed professional counselor in Virginia. They lean in on their experiences with mental health and the stigmas associated with speaking out as well as the importance culture in fostering a positive environment.
