  • Katz to Lead Wasps Women's Hoops
    June 14, 2011
    Emory & Henry College has selected Rose Katz as its next women's basketball coach, College officials announced Monday. Katz becomes the Wasps’ third head coach in the ODAC era. Katz comes to Emory from Widener University in Chester, Pa., where she has served as an assistant coach for the past three seasons.
  • Saluting the Winter Scholar-Athletes

    Five student-athletes from Old Dominion Athletic Conference member schools earned a 2011 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete Award during the winter athletic schedule. Farm Bureau Insurance is the proud presenter of each award for the ODAC's 22 sponsored sports.
  • Burkholder Nabs Postseason Awards

    Bridgewater senior forward Jordan Burkholder added to her awards resume over the past week with a pair of postseason honors. The 2011 ODAC Player of the Year was named to the All-South Region First Team by D3hoops.com, and later earned selection to the 2011 State Farm Coaches' NCAA Division III All-America Honorable Mention Team by the WBCA.
  • Late Run Lifts LVC Over Yellow Jackets

    Four Yellow Jackets finished in double figures, but Lebanon Valley ended the game on a 14-0 run to get past Randolph-Macon, 73-56, in Annville, Pa., on Saturday night in the second round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament. R-MC ends the season with a 23-7 overall record.
  • R-MC Tops Bridgewater St. in NCAA Win

    Led by Taylor Wieczorek's (pictured) 27 points and 15 rebounds, Randolph-Macon defeated Bridgewater State, 80-69, in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday night in Annville, PA. The Yellow Jackets will now face host Lebanon Valley College at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening with a spot in the Sweet 16 on the line.
  • R-MC Women Head To Lebanon Valley

    The 2011 ODAC champion, Randolph-Macon College, earned the league’s automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Tournament. The Yellow Jackets will travel to Lebanon Valley in Annville, Pa. where they will face Bridgewater State of the MSCAC in the First Round on Friday afternoon as announced on www.ncaa.com on Monday afternoon.
  • R-MC Captures Seventh ODAC Title

    Tournament MOP Molly Brown notched a game-high 22 points and Jennifer O'Briant hit a three at the regulation buzzer to send the game into overtime as Randolph-Macon defeated Roanoke, 77-68, to claim its seventh ODAC title. The Yellow Jackets earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III Tournament.

    Maggie Roy poured in 26 points and Molly Brown added 19 tallies as the duo helped Randolph-Macon past defending champion Washington and Lee, 79-66, in the first semifinal of the ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament. The Yellow Jackets will square off with Roanoke in the title game on Sunday. That contest is set for 1:00 p.m. in the Salem Civic Center.
  • Maroons Beat Quakers, Head to Finals

    Nicci Moats notched her 15th double-double of the season to lead Roanoke to the ODAC women's title game with a 68-57 win over Guilford. The Maroons will square off with Randolph-Macon on Saturday in the ODAC Championship Game. That contest, the third time the two programs have met for a tournament title, is set for 1:00 p.m. in the Salem Civic Center.

    Washington and Lee set three school records in defeating Eastern Mennonite, 86-56, in the quarterfinal round of the ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament. The fourth-seeded Generals move on to face top-seeded Randolph-Macon on Saturday in the semifinals. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in the Salem Civic Center.

    Guilford's Morgan King had a career day with 22 points and 12 rebounds to propel the seventh-seeded Quakers past second-seeded Bridgewater, 67-66, in the quarterfinals of the ODAC Tournament. Gabby Oglesby hit the deciding layup with 27 seconds to play.

    Roanoke center Nicci Moats dropped in 22 points to go with 18 rebounds to lead the Maroons past Virginia Wesleyan, 70-49, in the fourth quarterfinal of the ODAC Women's Basketball Tournament. Third-seeded RC moves on to face seventh-seeded Guilford on Saturday in the semifinals. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in the Salem Civic Center.
  • Burkholder, Willi Lead Women's Hoops Awards

    Bridgewater took home two major awards on Wednesday evening. Jordan Burkholder garnered the ODAC Player of the Year accolade, while Jean Willi was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year. EMU's Kala Yoders received ODAC Rookie of the Year honors and W&L's Becca Bolton was selected as the 2011 ODAC/Farm Bureau Scholar-Athlete.

  • ODAC Women's Tournament Seeds Set

    Randolph-Macon enters to the 2011 ODAC Women’s Basketball Tournament as the #1 seed, earning the spot in through conference tie-breakers over Bridgewater. The second-seeded Eagles collected their program-best 22nd win on Saturday. Roanoke occupies the third seed, and defending champion Washington and Lee will look to repeat out of the fourth position.

  • ODAC Teams with WBCA's "PinkZone"

    ODAC women's basketball teams are participating in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Pink Zone initiative during the month of February. The "Pink Zone," is an outreach and fundraising effort supported by the WBCA to raise breast cancer awareness in college communities and beyond. This year's Pink Zone dates are February 11-20.

    The NCAA released its first set of regional rankings for women’s basketball on Wednesday with the ODAC earning the two spots. Randolph-Macon sits in fourth place in the South Region rankings, followed closely by ODAC counterpart Roanoke (5th).

    The majority of the ODAC basketball teams squared off against multiple league competitors in the first major week of competition in the new year. GC's Josh Pittman helped the Quakers to a 3-0 week, including a pair of ODAC wins, by averaging better than 20 points per game. Nicci Moats helped RC to a 2-0 week with a pair of double-doubles and game-winning lay-up.

Harrison George helped the Tigers to a pair of wins over the holiday season, earning him a second weekly honor. Katy Wilson nearly notched a double-double in aiding the Generals' winning effort over Apprentice School.
