  • Generals Edged by Sewanee in NCAA Second Round

    The 16th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team fell to No. 15 Sewanee, 5-4, on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, hosted by Emory University.
  • Generals Fly Past Methodist in NCAA First Round
    May 10, 2013
    The 16th-ranked Washington and Lee women's tennis team flew past Methodist, 5-0, in first round action of the NCAA Division III Tournament on Friday, hosted by Emory University. The Generals dropped just two points in sweeping all three doubles matches to enter singles with a 3-0 advantage. W&L then won at No. 1 and 5 singles to claim the 5-0 victory.
  • Generals’ Tennis to Represent the ODAC in NCAA Tournaments

    Washington and Lee University will represent the ODAC in both the NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Tennis Team Tournaments, set to begin play May 10-12 in a series of first, second and third round matches. The Generals earned their spots in both tournaments via the ODAC’s automatic bids after winning the conference postseason tourneys.
  • Generals' Meighan Headlines Women's Tennis Awards for Second Time

    Washington and Lee's Sonja Meighan picked up her third major conference honor in two seasons as she was named the ODAC Player of the Year for the second consecutive campaign as part of the 2013 ODAC Women's Tennis All-Conference awards. Roanoke mentor Justin Fainter was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, while Virginia Wesleyan newcomer Sara Yousif garnered ODAC Rookie of the Year accolades. W&L's Patricia Kirkland received the ODAC/Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Award.
  • Washington and Lee Wins 23rd ODAC Women's Tennis Title

    The 16th-ranked and top-seeded Washington and Lee women's tennis team claimed a 5-0 win over second-seeded Roanoke in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship match on Sunday at Virginia Wesleyan College.

    Washington and Lee University is in search of its 23rd ODAC women’s tennis crown as the Generals (15-4 overall, 11-0 ODAC) enter play in the 2013 ODAC Women’s Tennis Tournament as the top seed for the 11th straight year. Winner of the past 10 conference championships, W&L is followed closely into the postseason by second seeded Roanoke College (12-3, 10-1).

  • Generals Top ODAC Women's Tennis Poll

    Washington and Lee University corralled 11 first place votes on the way to 121 points and the #1 position in the 2013 ODAC Women's Tennis Preseason Poll. Virginia Wesleyan College picked up the remaining top nod and 99 points to place second, but just six points separate slots two-thru-four. Hollins University is third with 95 tallies, and Roanoke College chimes in fourth with 93 points.
  • Hollins Names Brian Kastner as Women's Tennis Coach

    Athletic Director David Zinn is pleased to announce the hiring of Brian Kastner as the new head tennis coach at Hollins University. Kastner comes to the Roanoke, Va. campus after serving as the head tennis coach at McDaniel College since 2010. He will take over the day to day operations of the tennis program on November 1st.
  • Randolph-Macon Names Bruce Myers Director of Tennis

    Randolph-Macon College Director of Athletics Jeff Burns announced Tuesday the hiring of 1993 graduate Bruce Myers as the new Director of Tennis for the Yellow Jackets. Myers is the first full-time tennis coach in school history and will oversee both the men's and women's teams and will handle all operations of R-MC's Tennis Facility.
  • Generals Name Erin Ness as Women's Tennis Coach

    Washington and Lee Director of Athletics Jan Hathorn has announced the appointment of Erin Ness as head women's tennis coach and assistant director of the Duchossois Tennis Center effective immediately. Ness comes to Washington and Lee from the University of California-Santa Cruz, where she served as the head women's tennis coach for the last six seasons.
  • Lynchburg Names Bruce Sibley Men's and Women's Tennis Head Coach
    August 24, 2012
    The Lynchburg College athletic department announced Friday the hiring of Bruce Sibley as the head men's and women's tennis coach. Sibley played collegiately for Lynchburg College his freshman season before transferring to Division I LaSalle University to resume his playing career.
