ODAC Women's Soccer Report: Week 9

  • LYRIC BIRKLEY | BRIDGEWATER | SO | F | MILFORD, OHIO
    Birkley, a sophomore from Milford, Ohio, collects her second weekly honor of the season following a six-point week to help Bridgewater secure the fourth seed in the upcoming ODAC Tournament. During the midweek at Shenandoah, Birkley supplied the game's only goal off an assist from Laura Narby for a 1-0 victory over the Hornets. Birkley was then on the scoresheet twice in a 3-2 seed-clinching win over Roanoke. She notched the opener off an assist from Narby in the fifth minute and then made it 3-1 Eagles in the 50th minute via an unassisted effort. For the season, Birkley is second in the ODAC in points (30) and third in goals scored (13).

    • EMU goalkeeper Anna Filipkowski went the distance against Virginia Wesleyan (L, 5-0) and Guilford (L, 3-0), making 23 combined saves with 10 versus the Marlins and 13 against the Quakers.
    • Guilford defender Kylee Berry scored two of the Quakers' goals in a 3-0 win over EMU to lock up the fifth seed in the ODAC Tournament.
    • Lynchburg midfielder McKenna Dahm scored the Hornets goal in a 1-1 draw with Randolph-Macon and then assisted on a goal in a 3-0 win over Ferrum.
    • Virginia Wesleyan forward Breacain McClenahan assisted on a goal in a 5-0 win over EMU and then scored once with an assist in a 9-0 triumph over Hollins.
    • Washington and Lee forward/midfielder Helen Otteni scored one goal each in a 5-0 win over Ferrum and 4-0 triumph over Averett.
