ODAC Field Hockey Report: Week 6

Field hockey joined with the rest of the ODAC in opening conference play over the past seven days with eight of the league's nine programs competing against ODAC foes for the first time. Virginia Wesleyan is top of table after winning its first two conference games and improving to 10-1 overall, marking the Marlins first season with 10 or more victories since 2006. Lynchburg, Randolph-Macon, and Washington and Lee picked up their first league victories.

  • BERKLEY MILLER | VIRGINIA WESLEYAN | FY | GK | CHESAPEAKE, VA.
    Miller, a first-year from Chesapeake, Va., earns her second straight and third overall ODAC defensive weekly award after helping Virginia Wesleyan improve to 10-1 with two more shutouts. The Marlins have now reached double figure wins for the first time since 2006. Miller was called upon just once in VWU's 5-0 triumph at Sweet Briar. She then secured the Marlins second shutout of the week with three stops in a 2-0 win over Roanoke, marking Virginia Wesleyan's first win over the Maroons since 2016. Miller leads the ODAC in save percentage (.852) and goals against average (.475) and is tied for the lead in shutouts (3) with Shenandoah's Taylor Swann.

  • ANNA DORRESTIJN | LYNCHBURG | SO | F | DRIEHUIS, NETHERLANDS
    Dorrestijn, a sophomore from Driehuis, Netherlands, collects her first ODAC weekly honor of the season after helping the 14th-ranked Hornets to a 2-0 week. After Lynchburg posted a 5-0 win over Bridgewater to open ODAC play, Dorrestijn was on the mark twice in the Hornets 4-3 triumph over a tough Rowan University squad. She scored Lynchburg's second goal in the 14th minute. After the Profs pulled even just before halftime, Dorrestijn gave the Hornets the lead for good just 2:02 into the second half. Dorrestijn has registered seven points on the season with three goals and one assist.

      Scored a game-winning goal in double overtime to secure a 2-1 victory over St. Mary's, Md.).
    • Lynchburg - Samira Gharavi, 2026, GK
      Made 6 saves over two games, including a 5-0 shutout against Bridgewater and a 4-3 win over Rowan.
    • Randolph-Macon - Valentina Ambrogi-Torres, So., GK
      Contributed to a 4-0 shutout win against Sweet Briar by making 8 saves in 56 minutes. The match marked Randolph-Macon's third shutout of the season.
    • Roanoke - Lindsey Keyes, Gr., F
      Recorded a career-high 4 goals in an 8-1 win against Southern Virginia.
    • Shenandoah - Farren Winter, Gr., M
      Scored a hat trick in a 3-1 victory over St. Mary's, (Md.), with 3 goals from 5 shots, 4 on goal. Now holds 27 career goals and is tied for 10th in conference scoring.
    • Virginia Wesleyan - Lauren Hedspeth, Sr., M
      Scored one goal each across two matches, contributing to victories over Sweet Briar, (5-0) and Roanoke, (2-0).
    • Washington and Lee - Gracie Kaspar, FY, F
      Netted her first collegiate goals with 2 goals and 1 assist in a 9-0 win against Eastern Mennonite.
