ODAC Equestrian Report #6

In one of the busiest weeks of the fall, four ODAC schools were in action in single-discipline riding. Berry hosted both Bridgewater and Sewanee on Friday and Sunday, respectively, while the Eagles also competed at Berry on Saturday. Nationally third-ranked Sweet Briar traveled to Columbia, S.C., to meet the University of South Carolina.

  • WILLOW WRIGHT | BRIDGEWATER | FY | BREWSTER, N.Y.
    Wright, a first-year from Brewster, N.Y., contributed three points overall towards Bridgewater's team scores, earning a pair of MOP honors for her handling of horses on the flat. For the second week in a row, an ODAC matchup needed total overall points earned to sift a team score draw. Bridgewater and Sewanee competed to a 5-5 draw with the Eagles earning the win on points, 751-664. Wright scored an 82 while riding Forever on the flat. That topped her opponent, Irene Boehm, by four points for the head-to-head win. In a 5-2 team triumph at Berry College, Wright contributed a pair of points to BC's winning effort. She scored an impressive 85 while riding Deshy on the flat, besting her opponent, Emily Sudderth, by 14 points. In fences competition, Wright chipped in a point with an 81-72 win over Meaghan Kursman while riding Vance.

    Granger, a sophmore from Lancaster, Pa., earned one MOP honor and contributed two overall team points to help lead Bridgewater to a pair of ODAC single-discipline victories last week. For the second week in a row, an ODAC matchup needed total overall points earned to sift a team score draw. Bridgewater and Sewanee competed to a 5-5 draw with the Eagles earning the win on points, 751-664. Granger was responsible for one team point with her win over fences. She posted an 84 while riding Leo, besting Campbell Flanagan by 46 points. Granger then earned MOP honors in the Eagles 5-2 win at Berry. She and Emily Sudderth rode Tuck over fences with Granger posted an equally close and impressive 85-83 victory. On the flat, Granger and Meaghan Kursman tied with scores of 79 while riding Rhett.
