ODAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 2

It might be week two for the ODAC's newest sport, but this marks the first report and selection of Players of the Week in ODAC men's volleyball history. All but two of the ODAC's seven squads have begun their seasons with each earning at least one win. Lynchburg saw its program post wins in the first two matches for Hornets men's volleyball, while Roanoke was the lone team active two weekends ago to join the past week's outings on the way to a 4-2 start to the year. Randolph is also playing for the first time with the WildCats going 1-1 to kickoff their inaugural season.

  • COLIN MENDOZA | ROANOKE | FY. | MH | MIDLOTHIAN, VA.
    Mendoza, a first-year from Midlothian, Va., registered 16 total blocks with at least two in 5-of-6 matches played to help Roanoke to a 4-2 start to the season that included action two weekends ago as the first program to begin play in the ODAC men's volleyball sport-sponsorship era. Mendoza had two blocks in each of Roanoke's first three matches on opening weekend with a pair to go with two aces and two digs in a 3-0 loss to Wittenberg, a block solo and assist with six kills in a 3-2 win over Thiel, and a block solo and assist with three aces and two kills in a 3-1 victory over Concordia-Chicago. This weekend, Mendoza turned up the production with 10 total blocks, four digs, 14 kills and an ace in a 2-1 showing in Pennsylvania. He posted five blocks (2 solo) with 3 kills in a 3-0 win at Penn State Altoona on Friday. In a split at Lancaster Bible (L, 3-2) with Widener (W, 3-2), Mendoza posted a combined five blocks (all assists) with three digs, 11 kills, and an ace.

  • CONNER MAHER | RANDOLPH | FY. | S | BUCKEYE, ARIZ.
    Maher, a first-year setter from Buckeye, Arizona, helped Randolph kickoff its program-start with a 1-1 record with a 3-2 loss to Elizabethtown followed by a 3-0 triumph over Hood. Maher averaged 9.5 assists per set to go with three kills, three aces, 15 digs, and three total blocks over the two matches. He handed out 46 assists against ETOWN, chipping in nine digs, two blocks, and an ace. Maher then dished out 30 assists for an even 10 per set against HU. He added two kills and two aces with six digs and a block.

    • Nick Redding (LYN - Fy., RS): helped Lynchburg to a 2-0 start with wins over Wilson (3-0) and Mount Aloysius (3-0); registered 21 kills and 13 digs with 5 total blocks
    • Kody Rogan (RMC - Jr., S): averaged 8.33 assists (125 total) with 17 kills, 4 aces, 38 digs, and 3 total blocks in RMC's 1-3 start to the season
    • Gabe Fabbro (RC - So., S): posted 158 assists at 6.58 per set with 10 kills, 6 aces, 20 digs, and 12 total blocks in the Maroons 4-2 start to the season
