ODAC Men's Tennis Report: Report 6

  • TODD CANNALIATO | WASHINGTON AND LEE UNIVERSITY
Cannaliato, a first-year from Darien, Conn., helped Washington and Lee post a pair of ODAC team wins by going 2-0 in singles action. In his first outing, Cannaliato defeated Emilian Rodriguez from Roanoke College, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 2 singles in the Generals' 6-1 victory over the Maroons. In a 5-2 triumph over Virginia Wesleyan, Cannaliato moved up to the No. 1 position and posted a 7-5, 6-1 win over Avaan Chouhary.

  • FEDERICO MACCARI / NOLAN MACEDO | ROANOKE COLLEGE
Maccari, a senior from Reggio Emilia, Italy, and Macedo, a first-year from Virginia Beach, Va., went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles last week. The Maroons' tandem started with a 6-2 triumph over Aissult Mukhambetov and Bogdan Stan from Pfeiffer University (L, 3-4). They then posted a 6-4 victory over Henry Imorde and Sanjheev Rao from Washington and Lee. Maccari and Macedo's win against the Generals marked the first victory for a Maroons' doubles team over a WLU opponent since 2015.

    • Bridgewater's Corey Beshoar earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles in the Eagles 6-1 loss to Southern Virginia
    • Roanoke's Federico Maccari went 2-0 in singles action with a 6-4, 7-6 victory at No. 2 against Pfeiffer (L, 3-4) and a 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-4) at No. 1 against Washington and Lee (L, 1-6). Maccari's win against the Generals is the first point earned by a Maroons' men's tennis player against WLU since current head coach Jack Fishwick did so in the same tiebreaking fashion in 2021.
    • Washington and Lee's pairing of Henry Imorde and Sanjheev Rao helped the Generals close the fall season by going 1-1 at No. 1 doubles in ODAC team wins over Roanoke (6-1) and Virginia Wesleyan (5-2). Imorde and Rao won, 6-2, against VWU and lost, 4-6, to Roanoke.
