ODAC Equestrian Report 5

It was a matchup of heavy-weight equestrian programs on Friday in the lone head-to-head matchup of the week. Nationally top-ranked Lynchburg hosted No. 5 Sweet Briar in a clash of the two ODAC programs featured in the NCEA rankings.

The Hornets improved to 5-0 on the season with a 7-3 (396.5-371.5) victory over the Vixens at the Lynchburg Equestrian Center in Rustburg. Lynchburg won the fences session, 3-2, with four riders posting scores better than 80. Sweet Briar featured a pair of 80-plus riders. In the flat competition, the Hornets posted a 4-1 win with three more scores above 80 points.

  • AMAYA BELLFIELD | UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG
    Bellfield, a first-year from Longmont, Colo., collected one of three points for Lynchburg in the fences competition to help the nationally top-ranked Hornets to a 7-3 triumph over No. 5 Sweet Briar on Friday. Bellfield earned MOP honors for the session by posting a personal-best 88.5 for the high score of the round. She and SBC's Naomi Dachis rode Zehn in their head-to-head matchup with Bellfield posting a 14.0 point triumph. Bellfield also earned a point for the Hornets in the flat competition, posting an 83.0 score to win by 15.5 points.

  • ABIGAIL DEVLIN | UNIVERSITY OF LYNCHBURG
    Devlin, a senior from Newburyport, Mass., continues to be a force in the flat competition as she collects her third ODAC weekly honor of the season after helping nationally top-ranked Lynchburg post a 7-3 victory over No. 5 Sweet Briar on Friday. Devlin registered the top-score of the flat competition, posting an 88.5 to earn MOP plaudits. She and SBC's Hallie Nelson rode Ollie in their head-to-head matchup with Devlin winning by 9.0 points.
