ODAC Women's Lacrosse Report: Week 5

ODAC squads played five Saturday conference matches among 18 total events over the past seven days. Bridgewater (21-1 over Ferrum), Randolph-Macon (25-2 at EMU), Roanoke (22-0 vs. AU), Shenandoah (23-3 at GC), and Virginia Wesleyan (16-2 at Randolph) added to their conference win totals. BC and Lynchburg went 2-0 overall, while VWU went 2-1 as the busiest team of the week. Eleventh-ranked Washington and Lee won its only game of the week.

The Generals are 4-0 in the early going of ODAC play, while Randolph-Macon (6-1) has matched WLU (6-3) for most wins in the league with six. Bridgewater and Lynchburg are both 5-2 overall. Eight of the conference's programs have .500 or better overall records.

    Bornholdt, a senior defender from Cincinnati, Ohio, helped Lynchburg surrender just three goals in out-scoring their non-conference opponents, 44-3, on the Hornets trip to Florida to collect her first ODAC weekly award. In a 20-1 win over NAIA-foe Warner University, Bornholdt forced three turnovers and came away with three ground balls while also getting forward to dish out her second career assist (first this season). In a 24-2 win over Otterbein, Bornholdt played lockdown defense and finished with a pair of ground balls. For the season, Bornholdt has caused 10 turnovers and picked up 15 ground balls.

    Mayers, a sophomore midfielder from Glen Allen, Va., tied two school records in an explosive all-around effort over two games to earn her first ODAC weekly award. Mayers registered 19 total points with 12 goals and seven assists while collecting 27 draw controls, 12 ground balls, and eight caused turnovers in wins over Southern Virginia (18-4) and Ferrum (21-1). Against SVU, Mayers racked up nine points on seven goals and two assists. She added 11 draw controls, six ground balls, and four caused turnovers. Against Ferrum, Mayers tied Bridgewater program records with 10 points and 16 draw controls. She scored five times and handed out five assists to go with six ground balls and four caused turnovers.
