BRIDGEWATER, Va. --- Bridgewater College Director of Athletics Curt Kendall has announced Emily Bagby '20 as the College's next Head Field Hockey Coach.
Bagby has served as an assistant coach for the Eagles since 2021. She most recently assumed the full-time assistant coach role ahead of the 2022 season and assumed the new title of Assistant Coach and Recruiting Coordinator this winter.
"I'm extremely honored and excited about this amazing opportunity," said Bagby. "The future of Bridgewater College Field Hockey is so bright, where we're excited to hit the ground running and continue building on the growth that's already been made. I feel blessed to coach the program that has given me so much, both as a student-athlete and as an assistant coach."
A native of Esmont, Va., Bagby was a four-year member of the Bridgewater Field Hockey team and tallied 141 saves as a goalie during her time in the Crimson and Gold.
"We have seen tremendous growth in Emily over her time as a student-athlete and an assistant coach with our program," said Kendall. "She has developed in her on-field coaching, both player development and team concepts. She has developed as a strong recruiter, taking over the program's recruiter coordinator role at the end of the 2024 season. She has the confidence and leadership abilities to help our program succeed moving forward."
During her stint as an assistant, the Eagles improved their overall record every season, including a third-place finish in the ODAC Regular Season standings in 2024.
Bagby graduated from BC in 2020 with a degree in Family Consumer Science and also has her Master of Art's in Coaching and Sports Leadership from Randolph College.
