ODAC Men's Volleyball Report: Week 13

    Taylor, a first-year middle from Chesapeake, Va., picked a great time to earn his first ODAC weekly award as helped Virginia Wesleyan to a 1-1 week with the Marlins win over Roanoke to keep them in a tie for second place in the ODAC standings ahead of this week's conference tournament. Taylor registered 10 blocks over the course of the two matches while also notching 17 kills on a .652 attack percentage. In VWU's 3-2 loss to top-seeded Randolph-Macon during the midweek, Taylor posted three blocks including two solo efforts. He picked up one dig to go with nine kills on 12 swings with just one error for a .667 attack percentage. He added two aces to his line. In the regular season finale against Roanoke, Taylor posted seven blocks - one off his season-high - to go with four digs. Offensively, he hammered eight kills on 11 swings with one error for a .636 attack percentage. He also notched three aces. For the season, Taylor is eighth in the ODAC in both blocks (68) and blocks per set (0.86). He is second in the conference in attack percentage (.357).

    Wills, a sophomore outside from Newport News, Va., earns his second ODAC weekly award after helping Virginia Wesleyan to a 1-1 week to close ODAC play and earn a share of second place in the standings ahead of this week's first ODAC tournament. Wills posted 35 kills and hit .280 with four aces on the way to 44.0 points earned over the course of the two matches. That latter number includes nine total blocks defensively. In a 3-2 loss to top-seeded Randolph-Macon, Wills exploded for a personal season-high 24 kills while hitting .347. That is the third-highest kills total in a single match in the ODAC this year. He added two assists and four aces to close his offensive line, while chipping in seven digs and six total blocks defensively. In a 3-2 win over Roanoke in the regular season finale, Wills collected 11 kills and handed out an assist while also picking up five digs and posting three total blocks. For the season, Wills is fourth in the ODAC in kills (3.02) and points ( 3.52) per set. He is fifth in total kills (266) and sixth in total points (310.0).
